    Re: NBA 2021: 3rd Time's the Charm

    Three relatively important games today:

    Brooklyn v. Milwaukee
I want to see how the Bucks Big Three stack up against... oh, wait. Injuries. Okay, then. At least Durant and Kyrie are supposed to go. This is a big test for the Nets as they look to continue on top of the East.

    Heat v. Hornets
Miami needs to start making up ground on five seed Atlanta yesterday. They can pull even with a victory today. What does that matter, you ask? For one, the play-in tournament. For another, the five seed gets to play New York. (And that seems like a much easier road than, say, Milwaukee.) The Hornets, meanwhile, need to start making up ground for that 8th seed spot. They're now almost healthy again, with The Younger Ball and Malik Monk playing. Gordon Hayward and Graham are still out, however. (It's amazing how many injuries the Hornets have overcome this season.)

    Boston v. Portland
Look at the Miami comments above. Copy and paste them here for Boston. Double that for Portland, who has a chance to catch the Lakers for the sixth seed-- and a pass out of the play-in tournament if they can. Both teams really need this win-- the Blazers have six playoff teams and San Antonio in nine games. Boston only has four, but two of those are with Miami. Should be a fun matchup.

Sitting in a St Louis Hotel room with spouse watching the play-by-play of the 4th Qtr while she reads a book.

Thank you, SAC. We just passed DAL (we have the tie-breaker). Though there is still a quarter left and a 17-pt lead isn't safe. Go Kings!

Portland deserves a lot of credit for getting up off the mat this past week.

I would love to see the Lakers have to be in the play-in tournament.

And they might get the Lakers vs. the Warriors. I imagine they're licking their chops over the prospect of that.

Denver has gone 12-3 since Jamal Murray went down. A big reason is the uptick in the basketball stylings of one Michael Porter, Jr. When Murray got injured, MP was averaging 16.7 PPG. Over the course of the 15 games since, he has been scoring at a 24.5 clip.

San Antonio is holding on for dear life. Currently, they are 2.5 games up on the Pelicans. Their closing 9 games are brutal: Road games - Utah twice, Sacramento, Portland, Brooklyn and the Knicks. Home games - Milwaukee and Phoenix twice. Best of luck with that.

Another thing ESPN would like. Zion and not San Antonio.

The count was nine with the arm raised for ten.

The undermanned Spurs played a whale of a game against Philly last night. They've got a hellacious gauntlet in front of them, but man...can Pop coach. So ya' just never know.

The Spurs have the benefit of the Pelicans being the team chasing them. That team is never far away from its next loss.

    Re: NBA 2021: 3rd Time's the Charm

So many moving pieces with the new playoffs format. Tonight Steph went for 41 against the Pelicans, putting the Warriors into a virtual tie with the Grizzlies. Meanwhile, New Orleans' playoff chances got more remote.

The Wizards beat the Pacers 154-141 in a contest where defense apparently was strictly forbidden. The Wiz are only a half game back of 9th now and seem a good bet to zoom past Indiana and make a run at Charlotte in the #8 slot. Russ had a 14-21-24 line.

The Blazers finally lost on the road, though playing in Atlanta the night after playing in Boston at the end of a long road trip always seemed a likely loss. Atlanta solidified its hold on the #5 slot in the East.

The Knicks are currently beating Memphis. If that holds, New York is sitting pretty at #4 in the East while the Warriors then slide past the Grizz for #8 in the West. Denver and the Lakers are playing too. The Nuggets actually have climbed to 3rd in the West even with all their main guards injured. If the Lakers lose, they remain tied with Portland.

Utah is crushing the Spurs. And Philly is leading the Bulls late. Both of those games have ramifications for the #1 overall seed in each conference.

Lakers with a near must win tonight against Denver. Right now the Lakers, Dallas and Portland are stacked up in the #5, #6 and #7 spots....each trying to avoid the #7 spot. Dallas appears to have the lighter schedule....this Friday's game between the Lakers @ Portland likely will be critical.

Which player taken in the 2000 NBA Draft ended up with the most career Win Shares?

Nobody will guess this, so here goes: Hedo Turkoglu.
