AS have come off the board it’s easy to see with their contracts the Reds are t going to spend enough to get DG. I think over a full season Farmer may hit pretty well. His career OPS is below 700 and with more ABs I think he could get to 700 and that’s all we would get from players we can afford. Might as well give him a shot.

I think he'd do better than 700 knowing he has the job. I've always liked the guy - a gamer.

The answer is to save $3 million more.

If Reds are thinking of Farmer as starting shortstop, they should instead start Garcia who brings first rate defense. Give him some backup, pinch hit frequently, and get the benefit of his defense.

$1.85MM. To me that’s a total waste. Let a league min. guy play his role and use the $1.5MM on something more useful.
