I wouldn't mind us grabbing Danny Santana

Danny Santana is having a last workout today and then signing a deal this afternoon supposedly. I guess he already has acceptable offers. I have no idea if Reds are one of the teams that have been attending.

But he would make sense on a lot of levels. Plays both INF and OF (including 1b). Switch hitter with power. Not too old. Stolen base capability.

    PS - I've heard he's "Smooth".

Agree. He'd be a nice pick-up. Better idea than Dee Gordon, which I think is a strange idea.

When Danny's on, he's an extremely useful bench player. Surely a better guy to have on the 40-man roster than Max Schrock.

I watched him on an episode of Love Boat last night. Was trying to adopt a baby and instead got a 9 year old boy. Here's the kicker though. The kid was ready to learn how to play baseball right now.

Of course, but it really is a strange idea to take a guy who hasn't played SS since 2015 and bring him into the SS mix. Ezpoecially since he hasn't hit in the last 3 or 4 years either. They may as well just start pulling people off the street at random.

Wait, isn't that what they are doing?

Santana still hasn't signed. Some thought he might be heading for a minor league deal.

It's such a 2008 Reds signing. One where people say, "he's just depth, he's just an emergency SS," but in your heart of hearts, you know he will be out there Opening Day.

Source: the Red Sox have signed INF/OF Danny Santana to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”
