No team serious about contending would march a guy like Wade Miley out in their rotation. Even as the #5.

Earmarking him for 25+ Starts is a handicap that an already deficient club can not overcome.

His contract was laughable when signed, and is not a reason to keep such a low upside player in the rotation.

Reds were 1-3 in his 4 start campaign last year, and over his last 10 starts dating back to 2019, he has a 10+ ERA. 30 ER in 25 IP.

Lodolo should be in consideration, as well as Antone, obviously.


The Reds have been losers for decades. Moves like letting Wade Miley start and get meaningful innings is only going to perpetuate this.

calm down. he's been a solid starter throughout his career. he was hurt last year -- and it wasn't even anything that had to do with his arm. he's a good candidate to at least meet his career averages this year, or close.

also, he's making $7.5M this season. the chances of him being in the rotation, if healthy, always were 100%. deal with reality.

Quick check reveals his last two teams were the 2018 Brewers (which had the best record in the NL and went to game 7 of the NLCS) and the 2019 Astros (which had the best record in MLB and went to game 7 of the World Series). Would you care to amend your statement?

Yes, what happened 2 or even 3 seasons ago with Wade Miley, on teams with the likes of Cole/Verlander/Grienke and the best offense is baseball....That is comparable to the 2021 Reds. LOL!

I see Miley as a 5th starter, he’s not been as good as say a Mike Leake who I believe is still available. I’d take Leake over Miley, not sure what it would take to sign him. There are some younger guys that should get an extended look at starting this year. There will be injuries and someone will probably suck there way out of the rotation. Unless the lineup does a 180, it’s not gonna matter too much. This defense will probably extend quite a few innings and make pitching look worse than it really is too.

First question about Miley is whether he’s fully healthy. Missed time last year, groin injury kept him out. Let’s see if he’s back to 100%.
