    Jonathan India, Leadoff Hitter

Jonathan India, batting leadoff for the 18th time, reached base three times with two doubles and a walk and Castellanos drove him in all three times.

“He is a young aggressive hitter with phenomenal bat-to-ball skills,” said Castellanos, talking about India. “If you put him in a spot in front of Jesse Winker and me, it sets him up for success with the pitches he is going to see. To his credit, he is also taking his walks.”

Manager David Bell said he is running out of descriptive words for India.

“He plays with such energy, an inexperienced player that is playing like he is experienced,” said Bell. “I’m running out of words to explain how he his playing.

“It’s the way he goes at it,” Bell added. “He is intense in a good way, he is serious about it, in a good way. But he has a good way about him that the rest of our team respects for the way that he plays. The leadoff spot is a nice fit for him.”

Braves broadcasters were super complimentary of his game. They loved the guy.

Breath of fresh air out of the leadoff spot. Made some fine plays at 2B as well.

I would think good. But I'll admit I am not up on all the rookies in MLB this year.

I'd say right now the odds are not good.

Even Jethro Tull's Ian Anderson seems to have a leg up on India, and I didn't even know Anderson still qualified as a rookie.

I saw that. He finished 7th last year in the voting but is still eligible this year.

I have to admit I was totally wrong about India. I wanted Senzel to stay in the infield and play second base. I thought India's ceiling was a backup. I was all for using him in a trade for pitching. Glad to see that I was wrong, he is fun to watch.

India is what I was always picturing Nick Senzel would be....which is awesome. And Senzel is hurt. Always. Always hurt.

The Reds have a potent lineup. The leadoff trio of India, Winker and Castellanos ranks among the best in baseball.

Stephenson, Votto and eventually, maybe Moose make for a strong middle of the order. Naquin's been no slouch, and if Senzel ever gets settled in, you have a playoff-caliber lineup.

The arrival of India and Stephenson has quietly been one of the biggest storylines up of the Reds season. If they can settle in and continue establish themselves, the prospects for this offense improve dramatically.

He's always reminded me of somebody but I could quite place it. I finally figure it out -- Anthony Rendon. Yes, they look alike. But they've also got similar skill sets -- well-rounded, not elite in any one area, 2B/3B. India isn't the defender Rendon is, but he's been solid so far.

I'm not gonna hold my breath -- no young player this side of Tatis/Guerrero/Franco should probably be comped to a multiple time top-10 MVP finisher. But sure would be nice if he had a similar career arc. A few 6 WAR seasons would a long way....
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

India is like Florida Man crossed with Rendon.

The kid has been impressive, I love the way he plays. And M2’s gifs have been a welcomed treat.

Really glad this org ignored the calls from 99% of Redszone and didn’t trade him.

To our credit he did not look like anything resembling a special player in the minors.

I'd be content with his fair share of 3 WAR seasons.
...the 2-2 to Woodsen and here it comes...and it is swung on and missed! And Tom Browning has pitched a perfect game! Twenty-seven outs in a row, and he is being mobbed by his teammates, just to the thirdbase side of the mound.
