“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

The Reds have released Bo Takahashi, he went 3W-7L in 17 starts with Louisville this season. He would have qualified as a minor league free agent at seasons' end.
The Reds have also released 1Bman Yoel Yanqui. The 25 year old Cuban was acquired via the MiLB Rule 5 Draft last December. He had a .690 OPS in 80 AA games.
And they've released C/1Bman Jose Tello. The 23 year old Venezuelan was signed as an IFA in February of 2015. Tello has struggled mightily in his first taste of full season ball, a .598 OPS in 37 combined A+/AA games this season. He was also slated for MiLB free agency at season's end.

The Reds have released RHP'ers Wilder Zapata and Videlson Vargas.
Both players signed with the Reds out of the Dominican in August of 2019. They didn't play in 2020 due to COVID shutting down the minors and have spent most or all of 2021 on the injured list.
The Reds have released Ryan Lillie - the Reds controlled his contract through the 2023 season. The former Marlins 5th round pick missed most of the 2021 minor league season due to injury.
The Reds have released Carlos Carreno, Jesus Rojas, Alejandro Rodriguez, and Fraiber Castillo from their ACL & DSL ranks.
The Reds have released Tommy Milone, Rocky Gale, and Walker Weickel - they would have qualified for free agency after the world series.
Delino Deshields, Beau Taylor, Mike Freeman, and R.J. Alaniz have elected free agency - they qualified a little early due to being outrighted twice in their careers. They would have qualified for free agency after the world series either way.

The Sticky Finnegan Era is over.
Reds grabbed Ronnie Dawson in the MILB Rule 5 draft. I remember some people liked him coming into the 2016 draft for the Ohio State factor, but he's underwhelmed at the plate in the minors.

1 player is all they picked. Their blasé inactivity even during the minor league Rule 5 draft is puzzling.

Doug reports that the Reds signed pitcher Jermaine Vanheyningen. High heat, but strike challenged.
