    interesting quote for sure:

“I long for the days where managers make out their own lineups and make their own decisions,’’ Price says. “I only think there's a handful of those guys that do that now. Now, the front office is telling you who's going to play, how you're going to use your bullpen and pre-define your moves as a manager.’’

Ok. Fine. I'll get off his lawn.

I actually agreed with his premise. I think a lot of people are beginning to see how bad three outcome baseball is. Compared to even the early 00's the watchability has went way down.

This is why it doesn't really matter who the Manager is. Its the most overblown thing in sports IMO. Its about the players and the guys responsible for acquiring those players.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I thought it was very interesting that a recent ex-manager and ex-coach felt this way about the game.

It’s an interesting question: As a fan, would you rather win in a boring way or lose in an exciting way? And if baseball tries to go back, will we be saying, “Man, we could have won that game if we’d tunneled or barreled or something.”

Why should I care who fills out the Reds lineup as long as it’s not daft?

Give him credit for not just taking the paycheck when his passion is gone. I think there’s elements of truth in what he’s saying but there is also a bit of curmudgeness in there too.

I still think he was a uniquely bad manager.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

It's amazing how little they let you do when you're an incompetent boob.
    I'm not a system player. I am a system.

I know I certainly don't watch this game for manager and their "strategy". That they often either win or lose at due to the sheer randomness of baseball.
