Don’t care for Freeman sticking around at Schrock’s expense. I get the backup SS thing a little, but if something happened to Farmer in-game they could get by with Geno for a few innings and you’d make a roster move the next day. Freeman just does nothing for me.

Long-term I do like the idea of Farmer and Schrock as the backup infielders once Barrero is the everyday SS. Lots of position flexibility and the ability to hit a little from both of those guys.

I think it’s a sign Moose is coming.Shrock would be gone anyway when he returns. Expect to see Moose/Suarez/Farmer in a platoon of sorts between SS and third. Moose probably can’t play everyday anyway.

Freeman is defensively versatile. This year alone, for Reds, he has played every position except catcher and RF. And he’s played RF previously. So Reds are probably reluctant to let go.

As Reds bring up more infielders, Moose, Senzel, I expect Freeman will be sent out.
