Not even saying Woodford didn't deserve it in this case. I think he did. Because throwing at Cast's ribs and kneeing him in the back at home is not cool. I think Cast had every right to start throwing punches at that point, and showed a lot of restraint, looking back on it.
There's a whole world of gray area in between that and a bat flip/ trot/ fist pump / jump up and down for every. single. HR. or. good. play.

If what Castellanos did was poor Sportsmanship, than what RED's Ownership did for two decades to their fans was an atrocity and they should have been suspended from owning the team or any other team in MLB for life.

If Castellanos hits a home run and he celebrates by finding another Latinx player on the field to chide for their showboating and connects it into a large narrative about society losing its decency compass, would his celebration be approved? Or would our reality implode in on itself? I know this is theoretical and too dangerous to attempt in real life but I figured I’d ask.

This sets a dangerous precedent with the players union. We haven't heard the end of this.
Yadier Molina had more to do with the benches clearing than Castellanos did in my opinion.
But of course MLB can't fine or suspend "The Grate Yadier Molina".
