    Thrall and Brantley

I listen to the radio broadcast a lot. Have always enjoyed listening on the radio. What does everyone think of Thrall and Brantley together? I may be waaaaaay off but I feel like their chemistry is off. I can’t put my finger on why I feel this way. Has anyone else picked up this vibe? I really wanna know if it’s just me lol Go Reds!!!

I listened to the first 4 innings on the radio yesterday and thought they did fine. I don't typically get too upset or put off by in-game announcers. As long as they are painting a decent picture for me I'm good.

I think they are great together, they talk about the game, get along and don't divert into nonsensical avenues that let the game slip away.

    Plus no grievances aired daily

I really like Brantly. His southern drawl seems perfect for a radio analyst. Tommy is fine, like Marty or not, it will take awhile to get used to someone different after 40-50 years.

Tommy Thrall calls a good smooth game. Part of the fabric of Reds Baseball on the Radio has been the "Conversations" that Marty and Joe - then Marty and Jeff would have. Whether it was the WWF, tomato plants, golf or whatever.

We're just getting to know Tommy. Give him time. Same thing with John Sadak. The Reds did fantastic on both hires.

I'm with you, woy. Extremely small sample size, but the from few innings I've had to listen to (instead of watching on TV) on the radio, Thrall has improved a lot from year one. And I thought he was pretty darn solid last year.

I like them both. They have some chemistry. They tell the story if the game, which I love. Marty did that early on, but at the end was only stating his negative views. It was time for him to retire.

Like Sadak on TV as well. Barry still has a lot to learn, but he is new.

    Re: Thrall and Brantley

I chose the radio stream exclusively last year so I have a couple months of Thrall/Brantley under my proverbial belt. I enjoy them. I echo all that’s been said about their delivery. This year I’ve been choosing the TV team to get the same familiarity. So far I’m very pleased. It’s nice to have options. The mlb.tv television app now allows you to choose your audio stream. It is really great but there have been some games with a slight delay. In the past I was always able to synch them up on my own. Hopefully they get that figured out in the app. Ultimately though I think we have some great options.

Thanks for the responses. Sounds like it is totally me. It’s not that I don’t think they are good or bad. I just for some reason sensed something negative between them and I can’t really say why so that’s why I asked on here. It really wasn’t to criticize their ability to call a game. I think it was more does anyone get a sense they may not like working with each other. I know it prob seems silly. I am new to the board so sorry for a not so good first post. 😀

I was ready to scream at Larkin on opening day. He’s finding his rhythm as is Sadak. Tommy and Jeff had a head start

Sadak and Jeff is what I really looking forward to

    Re: Thrall and Brantley

I used to switch from tv broadcast to radio broadcast because I was tired of the tv guys (Thom and a little Jim Day).

Now I find myself switching from tv to radio and back and forth because I want to hear how the other duo is telling the story and want to hear what they have to say. We have good announcers on both sides.

To answer your question, I don’t sense any negativity between them. Now if you want to talk about bad chemistry and negativity recall Welsh and Thom from years past.

It's nice to have broadcasters who sound like they want to be at the ballpark.
"Even a bad day at the ballpark beats the snot out of most other good days. I'll take my scorecard and pencil and beer and hot dog and rage at the dips and cheer at the highs, but I'm not ever going to stop loving this game and this team and nobody will ever take that away from me."
