15 guaranteed wins vs the Pirates is a good start.

I hate to break it to the "Home Runs are Bad" crowd, but the #Reds lead the majors with 14 home run

I hate to break it to CTrent, but I don’t know anyone who is saying “Home Runs are Bad”. People still love home runs, they just want some hits go along with them.

The bad (actually great) news is the Reds approval rating in Pittsburgh is at an all time low. Yeah, I know..depressing, huh?

Yeah it’s that kind of smug snarkiness that makes C Trent intolerable to me

Last time the Reds started 5-1: 2016. Record at the end of the year: 68-94. Is it fun? Yeah. I watched and listened most of the afternoon, even though I had other things to do. Is it too early to get excited? Well, yeah.

I saw a headline after the game...."Reds score 25 Runs in less than 24 Hours"

    Which #BFSSG shirt is better?

    or

I think I prefer the red one with only the AG quote...

As well as this current Cardinal team.

But having said that - regardless of how good or bad these two teams may be - they're divisional oponents, and you still have to beat these teams too.

Been watching this game way too long to make any assumptions after six games. It's fun and exciting to watch BUT they aren't going to keep hitting at this pace IMO. But I'm really impressed with the pitching so far (minus Gray), and that's where I am keeping my on eye on more.

So does manager Bell get any credit for his lineup/batting order?

Re: Are the Reds for real?

The Reds are getting a lot from secondary guys right now. Hoffman, Deleon, Romano, Naquin, Aquino but if they fall off it just means they win 8 to 5 instead of 11 to 2.

Seriously, the Pirates are like beating up on a AA team. I'm loving India at 2b and Moose at 3B. Makes me feel much better about the IF defense (line-up too of course) then before even with Suarez at SS and bench players like Naquin are important. Big league vets who had success who can play competently while others are out ar eimportant over 162 games. It's different than turning to a late 20s minor leaguer which is what we've been used to around here. I don't expect production like this obviously, but if he's competent playing defense and league averagish at the plate (say 90 to 105 or so OPS+) that's a decent bench player. The Reds haven't had that much. Still want to see how the newbies on the staff hold up against big leaguers (not the Pirates) but that's the concern. Gray, Lorenzen, Shogo and Winker haven't really been part of it and those guys should be major contributors - arguably the team's best pitcher and team's best hitter. The Reds lead the league in HR with 14. Six of those have come from the 5th and 6th outfielder.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

In their last 38 games the Reds are 25-13. That’s a 107-55 pace.
