Well, coming into today, he’s ranked 190th out of 201 qualifying players in OPS for all of MLB. He has more at-bats than all but 2 of the guys below him, he’s older than the guys below him, he’s slower on the base paths than pretty much all of the guys below him, and he’s arguably a much worse fielder than all of the guys below him. A 37 year old Votto that OPS’ .300 is going to be one of the worst players in baseball...

Coming into today, Luis Castillo is the 7th worst starting pitcher in MLB based off ERA and 20th worst in WHIP. His ERA is worse than some guy names Matt Harvey, and his WHIP is marginally better. Can you give Votto a couple weeks? He missed significant time in spring training and may take awhile.

I suppose an argument could be made between Votto and maybe 2 or 3 other guys as to which one is THE worst...but I said he is “probably the worst” at this time.

Cool. So, all of those things still don't make him "the worst" and yet you think he is "probably the worst" based on two weeks into the season.

It's like I said. People can't have reasonable discussions about Votto's performance without some people trying to portray him as being historically bad and "the worst."

Knowing that he's not actually there at the ballpark, I'll cut him a little bit of slack. But yeah, he needs to dial it back a little bit more.

Yeah. Let's not underestimate how difficult this is for the announcers when they are not at the park. They have to rely on instinct until the camera catches up to the action.

And, this is the honest to goodness truth. I was listening to the radio one time when Joe Nuxhall went into his elevated 'home run' voice with a "there's a high drive into right center" on a ball that was ultimately caught by the second baseman.
