It is only 5 teams and from 2020 but only one had over a league average batting average. I didn't see any difference but it was only 60 games.

Well, they'd have to install something that approximates old style plastic grass on concrete. Modern turf acts a lot like grass. We'd need the return of harsher, less gentle turf.

I don't see that happening. They were basically playing on concrete. I have a better understanding of why you thought that now. It would probably work, but with player safety it wont happen.

Totally agreed it won't happen, but I do think what we're seeing is an outcropping of playing on slower surfaces.
