Lorenzen to 60 day IL per Sheldon

You probably can count the times a reliever pitcher has to sprint home from third in their career on one hand. To have him playing the field and running the bases his first game of the season at the end of July was so dumb.

I get the larger point, I’m not sure I even really disagree, but when you add in how bad their bullpen is to screw around with that was just so so dumb.

Yeah I don’t really care about the circumstances around the latest injury, just want to move on.

In "normal" times I can see the allure.

It was a bonehead move right now simply because our bullpen is in such disarray. Lrenzen's value to the team from the bullpen is magnitudes more valuable than his contributions at the plate and on the bases. For that reason alone he should have not been in the field, at the plate, or on the base-paths. He needed to be in bubble-wrap anytime he wasn't going to be on the mound until the bullpen isn't an unmitigated disaster.

As expected, the Reds placed Michael Lorenzen on the 10-day IL today.
The Reds also DFA’d Mark Payton and José De León. That opened up two roster spots for R.J. Alaniz and Edgar García to join the Reds for the first time this year.

Michael Lorenzen had both arms amputated in a freak escalator accident after getting medically cleared. Despite what one witness described as the second most horrific thing he had ever seen, the man still called for the Reds to activate him Friday.

"Beats seeing Fulmer pitch."

It was later reported that Carson Fulmer's last outing in a Reds uniform was in fact the worst thing the man had witnessed.
