I thought DeLeon looked fairly filthy tonight in a small sample.

DeLeon has lapses and loses command too often. I’m not sure it relates to starting or relieving. He may just have trouble repeating what works for him.

But his stuff is very high caliber.

Doolittle has only given up runs in one appearance this season and he's striking out over 14 per 9. He's not a dominant high leverage guy anymore but he's a perfectly adequate reliever

For the record, I'm ready to DFA Sal now (once the opportunity comes)...

Per David Bell, Michael Lorenzen received some good news and was cleared to start his throwing.

“That’s the first step to getting him back."

On Sal Romano: 20.2 innings, 12 ER. 6 runs in 2/3 of an inning against the Dodgers on April 28. Take out that appearance and he's given up 6 ER over 20 innings. On this pitching staff, he's becoming a bright spot. He should be getting more work rather than less. His K rate needs to be higher, to be sure, but he may actually be moving toward being a valuable piece of the solution.

That's great news about Lorenzen but I don't think "the cavalry is coming" with him by any means.

You can't bench press a fastball. Dude's fast but flat pitches were getting rocked even when he was healthy.

He always passed the "Uniform Test" but that just makes him this generation's Kyle Farnsworth

For many years a poster hung in the clubhouse showing what a Cincinnati Reds uniform should look like when worn properly. The model was Ron Oester.

I thought he was pretty solid in 2018, 2019 and even 2020 with the exception of July. I think if we had the version of Lorenzen that finished last season in the bullpen right now, it would be a material improvement.

I wouldn’t be surprised, if he’s physically up to it, if Lorenzen just becomes the new fifth starter. With Hoffman to the bullpen.

Michael Lorenzen threw yesterday in Arizona, David Bell said. He said when Lorenzen does come back, it'll be in the bullpen and could be around the All-Star break

Oh great, an excuse not to upgrade the bullpen.

I thought it was Woody Woodward.
