Reds sign Brad Brach to minor league deal.

Brach is 35, was terrible last year, but has a solid record as a MLB reliever. 3.39 career ERA 3.76 FIP

Carl Edward's Jr released by Braves today. I am grasping at straws here. Been a while since he had success.

He’s got 6 strikeouts, 1 walk, and no runs allowed now in 3 innings for the Bats. Small sample size obviously but no use in waiting around, I say give him a shot in this bullpen. I’d get rid of Romano and move Fulmer down to Romano’s mop-up job.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Help us minor league pitchers. You’re our only hope.

    Re: The bullpen

When your bullpen is throwing 43.2% of your team's innings, you can't have flotsam and jetsam down there. Relievers having options is nice and all. But, the option that I wished the Reds would have chosen, is having relievers that can get outs.

Agree no use is waiting around. I go back to Shane Greene but it looks like he will end up signing around the all star break. For way more money than the Reds would probably offer.

Green signed a $1.5M deal with Atlanta on Sunday.

Heath Hembree has not giving up a hit in 7 appearances. He has walked 2.

I hadn't saw that. He would have probably been a good get.

    Re: The bullpen

I posted quite a while ago that the relievers, at the time, had gone over 22 innings of relief without pitching an inning without at least a baserunner. Nice to see a shutdown bully today, albeit against the Pirates.

I'd be interested to see the stats on the staff overall for 1st inning pitched ERA, as well as first pitch balls.

Bullpen pitched 5 1/3 hitless innings today.

Baseball Reference will have that information for you.

Michael Feliz needs to go. In 9 appearances for the Reds, he has given up 12 earned runs. He wasn't doing any better with the Pirates before the Reds claimed him. I know the Reds are dumpster diving here, but there has to be better options than Feliz.

Shocked he's already pitched in 9 games. Agree with you though. Next. I think I'd try Riley O'Brien.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

I'd say he won't be on the MLB team tomorrow. I hope at least.
