I'm sort of enjoying this (not sarcasm)

Don't get me wrong, I'd much rather be 20-3 (on our way to 21-3) than 3-20. But 9-14 or even 12-11 with rough peripherals is just boring.

Sure, I want to Votto have a huge season, but I can accept if it's over and I still have faith he'll figure it out. Yeah, I want India and Stephenson to be healthy and play well, but they aren't to blame. I'm a bit sad that Mahle, Lodolo, and Greene have gotten beat around a bit, but their peripherals actually aren't all that bad from a predictive standpoint.

Ultimately, it's sort of "fun" to simply expect to lose literally every single day. I mean, look at tonight's lineup. We've got a light-hitting utility IF we claimed off the wire from the Mets in April starting in RF. Our 2-hole hitter has a .296 career OBP. Our DH and clean-up hitter put up a .653 OPS last year -- a figure nearly 100 points better than his performance thus far. You cannot possible have any expectations for this team.

Wins, when (and if) they happen, are a nice surprise. Meanwhile, you get to almost root for the spectacular disaster. It's noteworthy. It's memorable. From a certain perspective, it's "win"/"win". Maybe, just maybe, it will hasten the end of this god-forsaken ownership group. A man can dream.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

At this point why root for a win? I want ownership to face humiliation.

Local writers always protect the hometown team at least in Cincinnati do.... once that band aid is ripped off they won't come back from it.

Reds ownership will need to face not only local but national embarrassment to sell the team... why not the worst record in MLB history to cap it off?

It's certainly liberating to be freed from expectation and anticipation.

And totally agreed that there is a just desserts aspect to all this losing. It's no less than the ownership deserves.

This is kind of where I’m at.

It’s more entertaining than a 67-75ish win team

It’s so comical I’m starting to tune in again

    I'm afraid they'll never sell.
I honestly believe they make and pocket too much money from revenue sharing and they know the value of the franchise will keep going up no matter what they do. The Cincinnati Reds organisation is nothing more to them than a cash cow they can keep milking

If a public and national exposure of the utter failure and lack of vision of the Reds ownership group is what is necessary to make something happen, then so be it. But I get no satisfaction from it. I just want it to be done.

It’s interesting thinking about dick Williams, Kyle boddy…. There was a real plan with those guys around. Didn’t get everything right - but there was a vision, trying new concepts, taking risks. Mixed results.

Agreed with Roy’s post above. The lack of plan, vision, care, pride in the team is on full display for all to see. That’s a very good thing to elicit change.

Even during “bad” years I couldn’t get enough reds baseball. Weekday afternoon games were awesome to keep an eye on at work and I basically planned everything around when the reds played. This year it’s not fun to watch….it’s not as bad as I thought it would be in a weird way….I just seem to not care that much. Not sure if that’s a good or bad thing?

The Reds are to the baseball world what a pack of Necco Wafers is to the candy world.

An ancient symbol of success in a sea of "I don't care's"
