Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of Saturday, August 7

Bo Takahashi, Louisville: 6 innings, 0 hits, 3 walks, 6 strikeouts, 0 runs. Bo said “run it back” and once again pitched a fantastic game for the Bats only for the bullpen to again deny him a win. He gets a second straight Saturday mace POTD for his efforts. It’s a sad and beautiful world.

    In other action:

    Jose Barrero, Louisville: 2-5, 2B

Alex Blandino, Louisville: 1-3, 2 BB

Mike Siani, Dayton: 2-4, 2B, 2 BB, stolen base

Reyney Reyes, Dayton: 2-2, 2 doubles, 2 walks

Lyon Richardson, Dayton: 5.1 innings, 4 hits, 1 walk, 4 strikeouts, 4 runs, 1 earned run

    Daniel Vellojin, Daytona: 2-3, BB

Elly de la Cruz, Daytona: 1-4, 2B

    Ivan Johnson, Daytona: 1-3, BB
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of Sunday, August 8:

Today's macePOD goes to Victor Ruiz for his heroics leading to Dayton's win at West Michigan. Ruiz went 3-5 with a run and an RBI. That RBI proved to be the game winner, putting Dayton up 5-3 in the top of the 10th, with the Dragons holding on to win 5-4.

I'm passing out a pair of honorable mentions today. First goes to Francisco Urbaez (2-5, 2B, R, RBI) who was also part of that big 10th for Dayton. His RBI double drove in the first run of the inning and he scored his run on Ruiz's single afterward. Also honorable is Jay Schuyler (1-4, HR, R, 3 RBI) , who picked a good time for his first homer of the season for Louisville. His 3 run homer put the Bats up 4-0 in a game they would hang on to win 4-3 over St. Paul.

    Best of the rest:

Nick Senzel, Louisville: 1-3, BB, R, RBI

Narciso Crook, Louisville: 1-3, 2B, BB, SB

    Riley O'Brien, Louisville: 6 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 BB, 5 K

    Tony Santillan, Louisville: IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, K

Drew Mount, Chattanooga: 2-4, HR, R, 2 RBI

    Matt Lloyd, Chattanooga: 3-4, 2B, R

Michael Byrne, Chattanooga: 1.2 IP, 0 H, 0 BB, 0 R, K (when you're the only pitcher to not allow a run in a 26-3 loss, including a baker's dozen given up by Mac Sceroler, you've earned a shout out)

Jacob Hurtubise, Dayton: 2-4, BB, R

    Alex McGarry, Dayton: 1-5, 2B, R, 2 RBI

    Eduardo Salazar, Dayton: 4 IP, 1 R, 2 H, 1 BB, 6 K

    JC Keys, Dayton: 3.1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 2 BB, 5 K

    Ivan Johnson, Daytona: 3-4, HR, 2B, R, 2 RBI

Elly De La Cruz, Daytona: 2-5, HR, R, RBI

    Danny Lantigua, Daytona: 2-4, SB

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

The Graham Ashcraft runaway train has been caught. Hunter Greene's strong performance this week has pulled him into a dead heat atop the macePOD leader board. Meanwhile Allan Cerda had a big week, picking up his first two Player of the Day awards just a couple days apart. Here's the latest rundown:

    5-3: Graham Ashcraft, Hunter Greene
    4-2: Jose Barrero
    4-1: Francisco Urbaez
    3-3: Alejo Lopez
3-0: Lorenzo Cedrola, Austin Hendrick, Nick Lodolo, Brian Rey, Reiver Sanmartin
    2-3: Carson Spiers
2-2: Noah Davis, Victor Ruiz, Robbie Tenerowicz
2-1: Bryce Bonnin, Allan Cerda, Jacob Hurtubise, Bo Takahashi
    2-0: Narciso Crook
1-2: Tyler Callihan, Elly De La Cruz, James Free
1-1: Wilson Garcia, TJ Hopkins, Danny Lantigua, Wendell Marrero, Quincy McAfee, Riley O'Brien, James Proctor, Lyon Richardson, Gus Steiger, Michel Triana, Yoel Yanqui
1-0: Mariel Bautista, Quin Cotton, Connor Curlis, Nicky Delmonico, TJ Friedl, James Marinan, Logan Morrison, Josh Osich, Leonardo Rivas, Chuckie Robinson, Braxton Roxby, Tony Santillan, Max Schrock, Leonardo Seminati, Michael Siani, Case Williams

Looks to me like Ivan Johnson got robbed. I feel like he should at bare minimum get a retroactive honorable mention.
For a guy having a fantastic (.823 OPS) under the radar season, its pretty crazy that he hasn't won or been honorable mention once this year.

I came very close to putting Ivan Johnson in, but I didn't want to do 3 honorable mentions so I went with the guys who had big moments in wins. Daytona lost and dragged him down.

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of Tuesday, August 10

A number of impressive performances last night on the farm made today's selections very difficult. A good problem to have. There can only be one macePOD, however, and it goes to Christian Roa, Dragon: 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 0 BB, 8 K. The Dayton debut for the 2020 2nd rounder was sparkling and included seven ground outs to only one fly out.

I'm usually stingy with my Honorable Mentions, but there were too many to ignore last night:

Ivan Johnson, Dragon: 2-3, HR, 2 RBI, 2 BB, 2 R, SB. Another strong Dayton debut.

    Elly De La Cruz, Tortuga: 3-4, 2B, 3B, BB, 2 R, SB

    Austin Hendrick, Tortuga: 3-4, 2 2B, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R

    Danny Lantigua, Tortuga: 3-4, 3 2Bs, HR, 2 RBI, R

    Others of note:

Ender Inciarte, Bat: 3-4, BB, RBI, R

    Jose Barrero, Bat: 1-5, Inside-the-park HR, 2 RBI, R

Alejo Lopez, Bat: 1-3, 2 BB

    Nick Senzel, Bat: 3-5, 2B, R

    Alfredo Rodriguez, Bat: 1-3, 2B, BB, 2 RBI, R

    Nick Lodolo, Bat: 3 IP, 4 H, R, ER, 0 BB, 5 K

    Reiver Sanmartin, Bat: 2 IP, H, 0 R, 0 BB, 4 K

    Tejay Antone, Bat: IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

Lorenzo Cedrola, Lookout: 2-4, RBI, SB

Wilson Garcia, Lookout: 3-4, HR, 2 RBI, R

    Juan Martinez, Dragon: 2-5, 3B

Alex McGarry/Eric Yang, Dragons: each with a HR

Garrett Wolforth, Tortuga: 2-4, HR, 2 RBI, BB, 2 R

Debby Santana, Tortuga: 1-3, HR, 3 RBI, BB, 2 R

    Jason Parker, Tortuga: 5 IP, 4 H, 2 R, 2 ER, 0 BB, 5 K

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of Wednesday, August 11

The second straight night for a splashy Dayton debut, this time by 2021 first-rounder and macePOD winner Matt McLain, Dragon: 4-5, 2B, HR, 5 RBI, 2 R. The only blemish on the night for the former UCLA Bruin was a miscue at shortstop.

    Honorable Mention:

    Mike Siani, Dayton: 2-4, 2B, HR, BB, 2 RBI, 3 R

    Others of note:

    Mike Freeman, Louisville: 2-3, 2B, HR, 2 RBI, 2 R

Alejo Lopez, Louisville: 1-3, BB, R

    Lorenzo Cedrola, Chattanooga: 2-4, 2B, 3B

    Miguel Hernandez, Chattanooga: 2-4, RBI

Ivan Johnson, Dayton: 2-5, 2B, RBI

    James Free, Dayton: 2-5, 3 RBI, R

Jacob Hurtubise, Dayton: 1-2, BB, HBP, 2 R, SB

    Jacques Pucheu, Dayton: 4 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K

    Stevie Branche, Dayton: 2 IP, 0 H, R, 0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K

    Allan Cerda, Daytona: 2-4, RBI

    Games of Thursday, August 12

Big night and another macePOD for Jose Barrero, Louisville: 3-4, 2B, 2 HR, 3 RBI, 4 R, BB. . That's 17 long balls on the year for the future Kyle Farmer.

    Honorable Mention:

Austin Hendrick, Daytona: 4-4, 2B, HR, RBI, 3 R. .324/.444/.649 in the month of August. Loving this strong finish.

    Daniel Vellojin, Daytona: 3-5, 2B, HR, 3 RBI, 3 R

    Ender Inciarte, Louisville: 2-4, 2 2B, 2 R

Chris Okey, Louisville: 2-4, HR, 4 RBI, R

    Tejay Antone, Louisville: IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 K. Seems ready to me.

I was just waiting for yesterday's games that were suspended and resuming today to finish before posting the Saturday writeup

I misspoke, so to speak. I meant Friday/Saturday.
The Friday report is the one i was a bit perplexed about. I might have time to do it if nobody else wants to.

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of Saturday, August 14

TJ Friedl, Louisville: 2-4, HR, 3 RBI. Not the sexiest POTD performance there ever was but Friedl's 3 run blast, on his 26th birthday, helped lead his team to victory. He's hitting a solid .247/.370/.438 against RH pitching this season.

    In other action:

Jose Barrero, Louisville: 2-5, 2B, RBI

Max Schrock, Louisville: 1-5, HR, 2 RBI

Alfredo Rodriguez, Louisville: 3-5, 2B, RBI

Dauri Moreta, Louisville: 2 innings, 0 hits, walks, or runs, 2 strikeouts. It's hard to trust minor league relievers but Moreta is 25 and has been lights out between AA and AAA this season to the tune of a 0.92 ERA over 39.1 innings and could be working himself into future Reds bullpen consideration.

Drew Mount, Chattanooga: 3-4, 3B, RBI

Yoel Yanqui, Chattanooga: 1-3, HR, 3 RBI

    Michael Siani, Dayton: 2-4, BB

    Ivan Johnson, Dayton: 2-5

Matheu Nelson, Dayton: 2-3, 3B, 2 RBI. The Reds competitive balance first rounder is hitting the ground running to try and escape those nasty Okey comparisons.

    Juan Martinez, Dayton: 3-5, 2B, 5 RBI

Quin Cotton, Dayton: 3-5, 2B, RBI

James Free, Dayton: 2-5, 2 RBI

Alex McGarry, Dayton: 1-4, HR, BB, RBI

Eduardo Salazar, Dayton: 6 innings, 6 hits, 2 walks, 6 strikeouts, 1 run.

Elly De La Cruz, Daytona: 1-4, 3B

    Garrett Wolforth, Daytona: 1-3, BB

Re: The 2021 mace Minor League Player of the Day Thread

    Games of August 15:

The macePOD honors for 8/15 go to Allan Cerda, who blasted not one but two home runs for Daytona (2-4, 2 HR, 2 R, 2 RBI). Unfortunately the Tortuga pitching staff imploded and turned a 7-1 lead into a 9-8 loss so Cerda's homers got wasted, but they at least didn't go unnoticed.

Honorable mention goes to Cerda's teammate Blake Dunn (2-3, HR, R, 4 RBI). The 15th round pick made his first professional homer count with a grand slam, although again that was ultimately wasted. What wasn't wasted was our other HM's effort, that of Reiver Sanmartin. He helped lead Louisville to a 2-1 win with a line of 5 IP, 1 R, 0 ER, 3 H, 0 BB, 3 K.

    Best of the rest:

TJ Friedl, Louisville: 1-4, HR, R, 2 RBI

    Brantley Bell, Louisville: 2-3, R

    Max Schrock, Louisville: 2-4

    Braxton Lee, Louisville: 2-4

    Michael Feliz, Louisville: IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 2 K

    Nick Howard, Louisville: IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, K

Nobody from Chattanooga, they finished their rain-delayed game from Saturday so those numbers are already covered, and the regularly scheduled Sunday game was rained out.

Jack Rogers, Dayton: 1-4, HR, R, 2 RBI

Ivan Johnson, Dayton: 1-3, R, RBI, HBP

    Ricky Karcher, Dayton: 2 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 4 K

    Vincent Timpanelli, Dayton: 1.1 IP, 0 R, 0 H, 0 BB, 4 K

Leonardo Seminati, Daytona: 2-3, HR, R, 2 RBI, BB

Daniel Vellojin, Daytona: 1-4, HR, R, RBI

    Brandon Leyton, Daytona: 1-3, 2B, R
