Amir Garrett was suspended 7 games for "inciting a benches-clearing incident." He is appealing and eligible to play during the appeals process.
Javier Báez received a fine.

Manfred is the worst commissioner in the history of sports.
Beyond absurd that Baez got nothing.
This will not stop the benches for clearing. Suspending Baez would.

For comparison sake...he dropped his mitt, charged at the Pirates dugout, and started throwing haymakers in 2019 and got eight games, one more than yelling at the Cubs in 2021.

If Garrett had done this against the Cardinals they would have given him 30 years.
It was reduced to two.
Probably a longer penalty here because of previous conduct that MLB found objectionable. A guess, wonder if MLB will release it’s reasoning.
I thought the Castellanos suspension was bad, but this pales in comparison.
I figured Garrett would get 1-3 games. He acted like an ass. Ok.
I figured Baez would get an equal amount. He wasn’t part of the AB, inserted himself into the fray, and charged the field.
But MLB says that Garrett incited Baez to hop over the dugout fence, charge the mound, and threaten violence because Garrett hurt his feelings? And Baez is figuratively blameless?
I don’t get this at all.
