The suspension is ridiculous, especially when factoring in Baez's lack of suspension. He's literally the one that came onto the field when he didn't belong there.

He did it with Baez/Rizzo a couple years ago that caused benches to clear as well. That's 3 incidents in the last few years that have caused benches to clear.

I forgot about that one but a couple things:

- My point still stands: across 4 seasons, he said mean words to 2 Cubs players and charged the Pirates dugout
- No punishments were doled out for the 2018 "incident"
- This makes it even more egregious that Baez received a fine only. Doesn't that make HIM a repeat/habitual defender?

Using the "instigator" suspension rules that MLB seems to be using this year, Garrett shouldn't have been suspended for charging the Pirates dugout in 2019, since it was the Pirates yelling at him from the dugout. Same with the 2018 one. Baez instigated the 2018 one back in 2017 by showboating a grandslam off Garrett.

Garrett only instigated this one, and should have only received a 2 game suspension.

MLB hammered Garrett because David Bell won't keep Garrett in line. If Bell did his job Garrett would not be in serious trouble.

One thing I like about Bell is that he lets his players be who they are. AG uses his emotions to better his game, you try and reign that in and he won't be as effective. Bauer also eluded to this in his video.

I think a lot of this has to do how this celebrating was done. If Castellanos had taken a few steps away from the plate and did his flexing to the Reds dugout instead of right over that pitcher, the Cardinals may not have done a thing since none of their guys appeared to be the subject of Castellanos' celebrating. That looks like that famous Muhammed Ali standing over Sonny Liston after knocking him down. Re: Garrett; if he had maybe turned his back on Rizzo and hollered at the defense or the Reds dugout, the Cubs may not have taken offense.

I'm not blaming Castellanos and Garrett here, just trying to provide some perspective if they had done things different.
