    Re: Joey Votto broken thumb

Reds have 17 games beginning Friday with no off days. So I doubt they’ll go to 13 pitchers just yet. Too bad, a team should be able to go with 13 pitchers, but probably not this one right now.

Note: Reds will have a DH in Cleveland this weekend so that opens up different possibilities. Might see Winker or Cast at DH for a game or two, Shogo in corner OF, someone else at first base.

The last two games almost no one got hits.

Anyway, I meant this year overall, with his new approach that seems to be working.

I know I’m in the minority, but I would bring up Garcia, move Suarez to 1B. I think that is where Suarez will end up eventually.

This is where it would be really nice to have Aquino in the 6/7 spot.

Farmer and Blandino sound like a 70’s pop duo more than a the RH slugging I want at 1B and RF...

My guess is that Donny and Marie would have a higher slugging percentage than Farmer and Blandino, and I am talking about Donny and Marie right now.

You would prefer India at 3B. Senzel at 2B. Moose at 1B. Shogo goes to CF.

I don’t start Farmer or Blandino at all. If I can help it. Sure if Tyler can start there I would over those 2.

With the DH this weekend, we’re more likely to see either Farmer or Blandino. Wonder if Naquin can play first?

That would be my guess, with the possibility that Senzel and India flip positions.

I hope it’s just a month. The older you get, the longer it takes to heal. I know this.

Naquin at 1B sounds good due to his weak throwing arm. Just no Farmer or Blandino. Please Bell. Start maximizing your best. Those 2 right now are Gagliano and Kosco circa 1974. No chance.

That's the problem with the minors not opening till yesterday. (and even then AA got rained out). You can't really make a case for someone (good or bad) based on how they are doing this year.

    1. Trade for Story, Suarez back to 3rd, Moose to 1st. Once Joey is back, Moose to 2nd, and India becomes bench bat or down to AAA depending on performance
    2. Trade for CJ Cron and Jon Gray. Cron made the team as a Non Roster Invitee and is hitting well, once Joey comes back they go to a strict platoon at 1B. Gray enters the rotation and perhaps we see a big bump getting out of Coors.
I'm highly in favor of getting Trevor Story. From a baseball standpoint it's a deal screaming to be made.

When I Was a kid, I broke my thumb, I think I was supposed to have it in a splint for about 6 weeks, I did not have it on nearly that long, I kept playing and broke the splint early.
I think this is a case where the Red's are actually giving us a reasonable estimate of injury.
With the care that pro athletes get when they have injuries, he should be ok in a month (my wild guess).
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob
