I'd offer the Rockies Jose Garcia straight up for Story with them picking up the vast majority of his remaining salary. Suarez has shown himself to be capable at SS and I don't think JG is that much of a sure thing that you can't revisit the position again next year. You can always use a 1st Round pick on the best true college SS if you must.

Story’s salary is $17.5 million. Even at 2/3 that’s nearly $12 million. There’s nothing to show the Reds would even consider that. Certainly not after the off-season we all just witnessed.

Two, three million for a solid reliever at the deadline, sure, I could see that if Reds are still in the race.

Then to reiterate my point, the owners should just sell the team. And why waste money on a reliever at that point, just sell what you can.

Exactly. But why keep bleeding the farm system to keep pursuing rentals? This is not the first year the team has needed a SS. They have been using rentals every year since Zack Cozart departed. Fix the position and move on to other needs.

Reds won't make a trade unless they ink him to an extension, no one will, unless he's replacing an injured starter on a for sure team

The benefit to trading a B prospect every year is that you keep drafting B prospects every year. If you trade 2 A’s and a B you might not replace those A’s, those are the guys you know you want to keep.

Plus Jose Garcia will be ready soon. Probably next season.
