Reds Minor League Thread For Thursday - 05/06/2021

LOUISVILLE - 6:30 EDT - 0-2 - A game worth looking forward to as the Bats take on the Clippers in game 3 of 6 in this series. Vlad Gutierrez will make the start for Louisville. Vlad had to finish up his 80-game suspension at the start of this season, or he might have made the big club, pitching out of the pen. His spring training stats were excellent: 7 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 ER, 1 BB, 11 K.

CHATTANOOG - 5:15 EDT - 1-0 - The Lookouts will play a pair of 7-inning affairs tonight to make up for being rained out on Opening Day. Starting pitchers have yet to be determined, although Nick Lodolo seems to be a good bet to start one of the two. Chattanooga won the first game of the season since 2010. Drew Mount was injured in the top of the second last night. He was pinch hit for, and came out of the game in the bottom half of the inning. Maybe some sort of transaction for the 'Nooga today. The Reds might be getting a shot at a familiar face in this series, as Packy Naughton is now a Trash Panda, as are Ibandel Isabel and Mitch Nay. Isabel slugged 61 home runs in two seasons as a Reds farmhand. Nay was pretty handy with the stick as well.

DAYYON - 6:05 EDT - 2-0 - The Dragons have started the season with a pair of wins against the Great Lake Loons. Noah Davis draws the starting assignment. In 2019, after a handful of starts in the AZL, Davis was pushed up to Billings and pitched well, racking up 30 Ks, and pitching to a 2.10 ERA in the hitter-happy Pioneer League (RIP). Quincy McAfee (1.667 OPS), Eric Yang (1.319 OPS), Victor Ruiz (1.056 OPS) and Quin Cotton (.944 OPS) have started off year well. Leadoff man Jacob Hurtubise has walked 4 times in two games.

DAYTONA - 6:30 EDT - 1-1 - The Tortugas have split a pair so far with the Ratbirds. An 8-run ninth inning in yesterday's game was particularly satisfying. Rumor has it that Yadier Molina, upon hearing the news, wept openly in the St. Louis clubhouse after the game. I choose to believe that. Evan "Mrs." Kravetz will effort to Bewitch the Palm Beach hitters. Evan will be appearing in just his second career game. He made one start for Greeneville back in 2019, pitched one inning, and then was placed on the 60-day IL. Through the grapevine, it was planned that he would only throw one inning, and this wasn't a season-ending injury. Obviously, that was wrong. They better up the meal money for the 6'8", 240 Kravetz. On bus rides, he gets one side of the bus. Everyone else sits on the opposite side.

There's a lot of negativity with Naughton and Nay.

CHATTANOOGA - Nick Lodolo is starting Game 1 for the Lookouts. He has worked two scoreless, allowing two hits. He has yet to walk a batter, while striking out 4.

Jay Schuyler and Lorenzo Cedrolla each singled with 2 gone in the bottom of the second, but were left stranded.

Unfortunately, the camera stays on the batter as he runs to first.

Wow, this pitcher for the Trash Pandas has actually been quite good so far in his career. Had a 2.59 ERA in 2019.

Alejo Lopez may not be a prospect, but he hit. .298 average over 1175 minor league AB's.

Noah Davis does not look like I expected. He's about 3 months away from having hair just like Dustin May. He retired the side in the first for Dayton.
