Reds Minor League Thread for Sunday, 05/09/2021 Mother's Day Edition

DAYTONA - UNDERWAY - 3-2 - James Proctor, out of Princeton, made the Mother's Day start. He is making his first start, and second appearance of the season. He pitched 3 innings of relief in the season opener in which Christian went just one inning. Is Roa hurt? Is Proctor taking his spot in the rotation? He went 4 innings today and acquitted himself well - one run and four strikeouts. Brett Lockwood has assumed mound duties. He is making his 2021 debut.

Daytona has chalked up 7 runs on 5 hits. Efficient. Rece Hinds (3) and Alex McGarry (2) have roundtrippers. Michel Triana has singled and doubled, as has Danny Lantigua. Tortugas lead 7-1 in the top of the 6th.

DAYTON - UNDERWAY - 4-1 - Lyon Richardson is picking up where he left off on Opening Day, with 2 scoreless stanzas and 3 Ks.

The Dragons put two runs on the board with a single (Tello), error, sac fly (Ruiz) and single (Hernandez). Quin Cotton homered (1) to make it a 3-0 contest. Jose Tello popped out into a double play. Eric Yang was doubled up. The oddity here was the pop fly was in foul territory.

Rece Hinds HR was an inside-the-park HR, wonder how that went down.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

LOUISVILLE - POSTPONED - 1-4 - The weatherman would not cooperate today. Ashton 'Travelling Man' Goudeau was the scheduled starter. He would have been the sixth starter in six games. Six-man rotation? If you're wondering about the nickname, Goudeau has been claimed on waivers six times since the end of the 2020 season. Pirates, Orioles, Giants, Dodgers, Rockies and Reds. Yeeowsh! That seems like an awful lot of interest for a minor league journeyman who has only worked 8.1 innings in the bigs. 8.1 not so succesful innings at that - 2 Ks, 2.04 WHIP and 7.56 ERA.

Rece Hinds has also reached on an error today. That is the fourth time that has happened in the first six games.

DAYTON - Miguel Hernandez has singled home a run for the second time in this game 4-1 Dragons.

EDIT: The scoring in Gameday has changed. Hernandez reached on an error, and no run scored. After another walk, Jacob Hurtubise singled home two. Hernandez then scored on a stolen base along with a throwing error.

    Dayton leads 6-0.

THERE WILL BE NO MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL PLAYED ON MONDAYS THIS SEASON (at least not for the four Reds minor-league franchises currently operating.).

CHATTANOOGA - Cedrolla singled and came around on a Mark Kolozsvary double 2-zip. Alejo Lopez singled Kolozsvary to third. Jose Garcia then doubled, scoring Kolozsvary. Lopez was gunned down at the plate.

3-0 Lookouts. Hold that thought. Narciso Crook (2) just went yard. 5-0 Lookouts

It's that way throughout MiLB I believe.
