Should we send India back to AAA?

Seems like Naquin has settled in as regular CF, and Senzel to 2B for a while. India gets no playing time. Maybe he'd bet better off getting regular at bats in AAA.

I wouldn't be against it for a couple of weeks. Try to get him going again.

I am in favor of the regular ABs.

If you are going to keep Suarez at 3rd, then bring up Alfredo Rodriguez to MLB and Garcia to AAA. Rodriguez is almost 27 years old and is hitting pretty well at AAA. Let him give it a try at the MLB level to see what you've got while giving Garcia some AAA ABs.

If they are going to go back to Suarez at SS, bring up Heineman to play 1B. Maybe you catch lightning in a bottle and build up some trade value with him because I doubt he's part of the Reds' future.

If he's not going to be a regular you do it for two reasons:

    1. Regular AB's
    2. Extend team control

    .623 OPS.

And his Baseball Savant page says he’s earned it.

Honestly, I’m not seeing anything to be too excited about. Not much power, just okay contact skills, decent batting eye. He’s fun to watch, but he needs more than that to stick.

Seems like a no brainer if Senzel is going to be handling 2B for the foreseeable future.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Send India down if there isn’t playing time available on the Reds, sure. Right thing to do.

But these kinds of conclusions are premature by a factor of years. He’s a kid, just starting out in the big leagues.

He’s 24. I’m not closing the book on the guy or anything, but he’s not a kid. Good players are entering their prime at this age.

With that said: yes, he needs to go down to AAA to develop more. He doesn’t seem to have much of a power stroke and his contact skills aren’t as good as I was expecting. Obviously an adjustment needs to be made but from what I’ve seen pitchers aren’t throwing it to spots he has trouble with, they are challenging him and he can’t do anything with it.

Yes he should be sent down before they head out to Colorado. No use of him wasting away on the bench. Needs regular playing time. I would rather see Heienman though than Freeman replacing him.

I just gave my personal scouting report. It’s what I see. Not really drawing any meaningful conclusions.

I would have pulled the trigger on that move two weeks ago.

If they aren’t going to play him, then move him down. Get him meaningful at bats and reps with Garcia. That’s the middle infield of the future IMO.

He's had 9 ABs since a 10 day DL and all the sudden he's not ready, he's not young, he's nothing to get excited about.

Meanwhile we're expected to unconditionally defend Suarez who is a human strikeout and has the 9th worst OPS out of all qualifying players in baseball.

Not saying Suarez hasnt earned some grace and i'm not saying India doesnt deserve some criticism, just that it's interesting to watch some defend Suarez no matter what and watch others cast India out as soon as he hits a cold patch.

I'm all for sending him to AAA to get him regular playing time but i'm far from a verdict on him as a MLB player.

I think pretty much everyone is saying he needs consistent at bats and to develop more. He’s not ready.

Suarez has put together very good major league seasons. India is a rookie that had a decent first week of the season and then fell off a cliff. He needs regular ABs at AAA to develop more. I frankly do not understand what the Reds are waiting on. It’s weird how crappy they are with roster decisions.

And it's not like India dominated the minors, either.
