Winker looked bad last night. Swung thru a belt high fastball late in the game to strike out. He probably needs a day.

my god, winker does not need a day off. tinkerbell just can't get out of his own way. one bad game does not take away from the fact that he's been perhaps the hottest hitter in baseball over the last 3 weeks.

Why not Geno at 1st, India at 2nd, Farmer at SS and Senzi at 3rd...doesn’t that make more sense defensively?

Kinda love this lineup if you have to give Wink a breather.

Hoffman just needs to keep it in the park.

It's probably just a scheduled day off for Wink.

No problem giving Wink a day off. He didn’t look his best yesterday. And Coors’ big outfield isn’t a great match for him defensively.

But it’s noteworthy how Reds rest top guys like Cast and Winker - yet Suarez plays virtually every single day.

Suarez has the most PAs on the team. He is in the middle of the lineup every day. And he is hitting below .150.

I’m guessing that it’s an organizational decision, he’s highly paid, he plays whether he hits or not.

I think it's a Bell decision. He's like Dusty. You reward your regulars who are playing badly. To show them you have faith in them. That's why Castillo was moved up in the rotation. He's one of the worst starters in MLB right now.

Suarez is terrible right now. He should be playing every other day and low in the lineup.

Let's count the number of times today a weak defensive play costs a free baserunner or a base advanced.

David Bell says this is a scheduled off day for Jesse Winker.
“Not easy to take Wink out of the lineup, but also very important."

David Bell on Nick Senzel at third base today: “He has been staying ready, getting work in. Today is the day to give it a shot… He wants to do it, that’s the big thing."

I agree with your suggestion. Suarez should be in an infield rotation. Reds now have lots of decent or better infielders. Senzel has joined that club, India, etc. Take down the temperature, relieve the pressure, and help the team.

I'm hoping we see Warren in relief today. Get a little evaluation on what we have there. Unscored upon in his first outing (one inning) but had 2 walks.

I imagine Perez will be send down tomorrow. Moose maybe on IL tomorrow as well if he can't play by then. Tom pointed out the other day in a thread that Feliz could not join the club until he passed Covid tests. So he probably joins tomorrow on the homestand and Perez goes back to Louisville.

I look for Warren and Garrett to pitch a couple innings each today. Provided they don't get hammered in inning one. Getting 5 innings from Hoffman would be a minor miracle. I would settle for 5 Inns 4 runs from him and call that a win.

He’s not really highly paid, though. $11 million salary this year, Cast is making more. Also, Suarez had a scheduled off day on 4/27. I bet he would have had a scheduled off day last Sunday as well, but the game was postponed.
What would you say.....ya do here?
