If one belongs to the “continuity” school of baseball lineups, he or she should probably avoid the Reds under Bell.

However - this lineup tells us something about how Reds prefer to back up Votto at first. The answer is not Suarez SS/Farmer 1B. Nor is the answer Blandino 1B. So Stephenson at first is the next effort, and a sensible one when he isn’t catching.

Nothing quite like batting one of the worst hitters in baseball third! I know Suarez is well liked by most everyone, but this is ridiculous.

votto, senzel and moose all hurt (although at least the last 2 are available to play). i guess any lineup under those conditions would look ugly. and this one definitely qualifies!
