David Bell is usually pretty forthright on telling us if a player is injured. The theory on him filling in for Sonny on Sunday might not be far off.
That would explain why he's waiting to comment.
That's the hope, at least.

I'm all for seeing if Antone can start, but if you remove him from the bullpen there's almost nothing left.

Yeah... this is going to be a Covid list or bereavement leave situation. There’s not a long term rotation spot opening up here. We need someone to start 3-4 games. It’s unlikely we’ll use our best high-leverage reliever for a stop-gap while former top-100 prospect Tony Santillan is striking out the world in Louisville. I just hope Antone’s absence today was not injury-related. Don’t get me wrong, I also hope they’re moving him to the rotation, effective immediately - but I very much doubt that in this situation.

If you're bummed Antone didn't come into the game in the 6th inning today, that seems like a pretty airtight argument for having Antone in the bullpen.

I’ll guess that Antone will be announced as Sunday’s starter.
Not necessarily permanently, but it would be a fan attraction, they may not feel the AAA guys are ready. Also I’m parsing Bell’s careful words that Tejay was “not an option today” reported by C Trent.
Just a feeling, a wild guess, nothing more.

Maybe they are announcing Antone suspension for doctoring the ball or something. Would be fitting to punish the reds while everyone else is also doing it.

From Rotoballer : David Bell didn't indicate why the 27-year-old wasn't in uniform, although the skipper did suggest that he would reveal more about his status sometime on Friday.

are you seriously defending ownership here? like these guys don't have $9M they can spend? there is no way that "trade" was defendable. giving away a good closer for free is bad business.

I do not think the bullpen would be better with him. He didn't pitch the 6th or 7th, or should I say wouldn't without whining to reporters about it. They have not yet improved the bullpen, but paying him what was owed would have been wasted anyhow, so at this point its a push.

Translation: overpaid and not a guy any sane team should trust. You can be a pretty forgettable reliever and be as good as Iglesias.
