In that scenario, I would expect to lose. So, I would not be as nearly frustrated. Just let Miley go one more and then an inning each out of Hendrix, Hembree, and Doolittle. there may have been some runs, but the Reds still likely win that game easily.

Fine, I respect that. To me though, this would not be so infuriating if Bell did not already have a long history of pulling his SP early and costing his team games because of it.
It's mostly that I've seen this same crapshow time and again and I'm over it.

How sure are you that this is actually a David Bell thing and not an analytics thing?

There's a reason so few SPs go deep anymore and the reason is analytics. Managers have cost their teams so many games over the years by leaving starters in.

That said, the better strategy only works when you actually have a bullpen of decent arms so *shrug*

We are arguing that it was NOT ridiculous to pull him. Sending him out to start the 6th is not the decision I would have made, but it wouldn't have been absurd. Arguing that pulling him after 5 is absurd, however, IS absurd.
