He asked Sims, his #2 reliever, to get a guy with a .300 OBP out. Unfortunately, he didn't get it done.

If you're using Antone in the 6th inning in games you consistently end up losing, you've failed. That's not maximizing his value to the team.

You want to blame somebody? Blame Castellini.
I blame everybody. Antone has pitched in the 6th inning in 9 games this year and the Reds are 8-1 in those games. He hasn’t pitched since Sunday. Your points here are not relevant to this situation.

Even a crowd of Ric Flair impersonaters has a breaking point.

I'd argue today's game is/was a lot more important than tomorrow's since it's against a division opponent (in fact, probably THE team to beat in the division).

Therefore, it makes more sense to take your best shot today and worry about tomorrow then.

Goudeau is going to hit a grand slam.

I'm as sure of that as I was sure that Doolittle would give up runs.

Ok, Geno striking out complicates this a little.

Acquiring Adames this offseason was such a no brainer solution to the SS situation. He’s only making like $600k this year. You can’t place that failure on Bob C. That is squarely on the shoulders of Krall.
What would you say.....ya do here?

You mean in April when he was the long man and Garrett was the closer? I checked the game logs and that was at least 6 of them. Yeah, that doesn't count. The most recent one was when he was brought in during the attempted collapse last Sunday when Bell knew he only had only had 10-15 pitches to use given his pitch count in the games prior.

As I've repeatedly said, Bell has to use Antone in the position where he can maximize the Reds' ability to get a win. This bullpen is absolute garbage and he can't afford to use him on days when the rest of the guys blow it.

Some of you want Antone to hold it and worry about the 8th and 9th later. Given how the rest of the bullpen has performed today and during the rest of the season, that would be pretty stupid most of the time.

Edit: Hell, we consider Sims the clear #2 and he has a 5.01 ERA. That's how bad things are when Bell/Johnson look out into the bullpen.

People complain about the pitching but this offense is just pathetic against the better teams in baseball

I'm starting to think the Reds won't win this game.

    We’re bad again.

    On to the Rockies.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Your argument has been to use him in high leverage situations, why not here then? You are contradicting yourself. They waste their best pitcher daily and you continue to defend it. Makes no sense.

The Reds’ soft white underbelly of a bullpen strikes again.
