My opinion is the Brewer defense handed the game to the reds last night and the Reds returned the favor today.

David Bell said Tejay Antone was "not an option today"

Bell said he would discuss Tejay Antone tomorrow

David Bell is usually pretty forthright on telling us if a player is injured. The theory on him filling in for Sonny on Sunday might not be far off.

That would explain why he's waiting to comment.

    That's the hope, at least.

I'd rather just see what Santillan can do then lose Antone from the pen right now.

I know Sims and Bell are getting railed on for today, but the Brewers scored those runs with Adames lifting a deep flyball pull-side off a slider off of the plate. And then Peterson popping into no mans land. Not exactly a bad outing by Sims, mostly some brutal breaks for the Reds.

Granted I don't think for a second the rest of the pen could have held that lead.

Sims enters 2nd and 3rd w/ 0 outs B9 Sunday and pitches the best/most important inning of season. Fans: Great job!

Sims enters today and does not do his job. Fans: Fire Bell.

    It's comical.

For whatever its worth, this is not accurate. Sims did not enter with runners on second and third, he started the inning and he put the runners on. Then he pitched his way out of it.

Sims having a 5 ERA is one of the more shocking developments of the season to me. I legit thought he was going to be very good. It truly is Antone and absolutely nothing else in the bullpen.

Swing and miss by Lance, Tejay had already pitched that game. The entire argument is that Tejay was available and Bell chose not to use him in a high leverage situation. He gambled on getting out of that with his somewhat closer and it backfired. End of story.

When manager David Bell pulled Castillo from a game the Reds led by one run, the Brewers had two runners on base.

With standout reliever Tejay Antone unavailable, the Reds turned to Lucas Sims, who hadn’t allowed a run in his last six games and has been the Reds second-best reliever.

Lance seems to be forgetting that Sims had a Cordero save, it wasn't exactly dominating, but he hung tough. He has been wildly inconsistent due to command and not throwing enough strikes.

lance getting his facts wrong and lashing out at the fans is completely on brand for him. he's like PR for whatever team he likes. he has no ability to be objective.

this is correct. the reds "second best reliever" is a guy who would be a fringe reliever on most teams (at least any good teams). the 2021 reds have one good relief pitcher in antone, and thank goodness he's really good. course, sounds like he might be a starter now, at least temporarily. so, we could be down to zero good relievers, which does not seem optimal.
