that's criminal. barnhart has no idea how to properly receive any baseball that is not thrown exactly where he expects it. and of course home plate umps have no idea what the strike zone is.

Yeah Votto and the umps cost two runs that inning.

I always wonder why announcers like Sadak and the Brennamans make a big deal out of "well, he was trying to get a hit with a bunt" and act as if the player doesn't deserve a sac bunt.. If the guy advances the runner, it's a sacrifice, no matter what was going through the hitter's head.. as Welsh pointed out.

It would be like not giving the pitcher a HBP because he didn’t mean to. No one can read the guy’s mind as to what his intent was on a bunt.
