Naquin is putting together a typical Jay Bruce rollercoaster season.

I see Naquin as a quality 4th OF, who can fill in capably as a starter when necessary. Sort of like Laynce Nix and Chris Heisey in 2010, Michael Tucker and Jeffrey Hammonds in 1999, Thomas Howard and Jerome Walton in 1995, or Glenn Braggs in 1990.
Eric Stratton, Rush Chairman. Damn glad to meet ya.

Perfect role for him. The Reds must upgrade OF next year. They will have Winker and a bunch of 4th 5th OFers. Must get at least one starting OFer. I would look at swapping Gray for a OFer in the last year of his contract. They usually have big seasons in contract years.

This has been my thinking all along. He's quality 4th outfielder. Reds are lucky to have him. He has in fact filled an everyday starter roll very well most of this season. So that has been a very much added extra bonus.

The contingent that wanted him gone has been quiet recently! He's a pretty good player, just not really a center fielder and not somebody who I think needs to be in the lineup every day. But he's capable of playing very well and the Reds should ride him when he does.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

Similar to Kelly Farmer - not as good defensively, but more power, and a nice option to have, though not ideally an everyday guy.

I thought he could be the man out, he's got power and is streaky, but I love LH batters who can turn it on. He's miscast as CF, but so is our RF and LF... so go figure

+.800 OPS (.816 to be exact) is no "replacement player."

I will keep repeating that a platoon of Naquin and Aquino should be a decent RF next season if Cast opts out. It won’t replace his production, but it will be at least league average at a very affordable payroll cost.
