    UFOs

As expected the just released report on UFOs is underwhelming but it did say a couple things

    1) 143 unexplained cases. Thus this is not an isolated phenomena
    2) They do not think it's coming from a foreign adversary. So by deduction it's likely coming from aliens

Of course it's carefully worded and they didn't use the terms aliens or anything of that sort but there's a lot of stuff out there that even our gov't experts can't explain. They're no longer blaming this on weather balloons.

"Of the 144 reports we are dealing with here, we have no clear indications that there is any non-terrestrial explanation for them – but we will go wherever the data takes us," said a senior U.S. government official, who also noted that they did not show that a foreign adversary had made significant technological leaps.

"We are open to other hypotheses that is meant to recognize that we have many things that we are currently unexplained," said the official. "We are open to the possibility that some things may be unexplainable with our current level of understanding."

Assuming we aren't alone in the universe, which as Contact pointed out, "would be a huge waste of space," 3 things have always come to mind:

    1. Any species technologically advanced enough to reach us by spacecraft, must be peaceful, otherwise they would have destroyed themselves with their own technology long before reaching us.

    2. They must also realize that we are still way too violent to interact with, so they probably just observe

    3. Or it could be more of a They Live kind of scenario, which, based on the way the world is going, seems most plausible. It's actually even more eerie to watch They Live now, than it was 20 years ago.

I agree with your thoughts above. I also think it's quite plausible that our planet may not be quite right for their species to live.

I'm having trouble grasping possible alien motives for traveling light-years across the stars to Earth, only to then hide from us. It just seems too convenient for the UFO believers.

This is a good time to remind everyone:

UFO == An Object, which appears to be Flying, but as yet remains Unidentified.
    UFO =/= Alien spacecraft

It's also a logical fallacy to claim something is "unidentified" and then say you know what it is.

I doubt they're hiding from everyone. There are reports that these beings made a deal as far back as Eisenhower to study humans in exchange for technology. As for doing a press conference on the 6pm news, Bob is right as to our violence. Someone is liable to put a bullet through their head. Mankind would not handle this well I'm sad to say.

Reports? I’d like to check these out. I am a huge sci fi fan.

We are obviously not alone in the universe, but come on, Eisenhower made a deal with them?

Inconvenient truth: faster than light speed is impossible and black holes aren’t portals.

Counterpoint to #1: any civilization advanced enough to get to us would look at us like we look at ants and wiping us out wouldn’t be considered violence. It would be more akin to us wiping out a bee hive to cut down a tree to make lumber than destroying an intelligent civilization. If faster than light speed travel is possible, which I do not think it is, it’s likely the only way to obtain it would be to have a civilization either of or controlled by extremely advanced AI.

It’s pretty wild though that they both say they believe they’ve confirmed they’re physical objects (through radar at least) and that they also move and behave in ways that shouldn’t be physically possible.

My guess is that they’re like some kind of decoy hologram drone thing that can spoof and fool current tech instrumentation.

A lot of people are saying there’s no way it could be anything but aliens based on the fact that the speed and maneuvers it take shouldn’t be possible and any earthbound material would destroy itself under the g-forces….but I would still be shocked if this doesn’t end up being some kind of military industrial complex/black-site future tech, that they’re either testing or flexing to the rest of the world. And until somebody actually gets their hands on one, idk if I’m convinced they’re actual physical objects.

If you're advanced civilization, you might not even eat meat anymore. I'm sure they'd draw a line between ants and intelligent species.

How they got here is a huge question and that's part of their technology that we don't yet understand. I think all possibilities should be on the table. If it's some sort of hologram, that's also technology we don't understand. This report specifically said that it's not coming from our adversaries (other countries here on earth). Also this is nothing new. Humans have been seeing flying objects long before the Wright Brothers. The only thing that would explain 10K yrs of sightings are extraterrestrials such as aliens or Gods.

Personally I think these beings are possibly a million yrs more advanced than us and they have figured out portals although perhaps it's warping space. Considering how far we've come since the Wright Bros, a million yrs could explain it

But then we get into the great filter discussion, is it even possible for an intelligent civilization to last 1 million years? I have doubt. We are, what, 20,000 or so into human civilization and we are already well on our way to destroying our environment.

Our population is still growing incredibly. Dinosaurs lived a couple hundred millions of yrs. As for our environment, don't buy that fearporn

Our population growth is not a good thing for the environment. The debate about climate change aside, we’ve already done a lot of damage to the environment and we are thousands of years into our civilization, not 1 million years. Even the most ignorant climate change denier can’t say we aren’t doing damage to our environment.
