Trade for Story and Marquez. Eat all salaries for both players. Give up anyone on the farm not named Lodolo, Greene or Barrero. Since we'd be eating salary they can take less in talent.

I was going to say Jimmy Haynes.

    But Paul Wilson works too.

I was just thinking this. he is a Paul Wilson, Jimmy Haynes, and Tim Adleman type. He is part of the problem not the solution. He was another cheap arse acquisition over the winter. He is not good and won't be. At best he is a bullpen innings eater on blowout day. In no way should he be taking innings away from a young pitcher like Santillian or a Guiterrez. Why put him back in the rotation? Why? I personally have no problem with Jeff Hoffman. I'm sure he is a nice guy, but in no way, shape, or form should he be in our starting rotation. Call Greene or Lodolo up before you do that.

Just go out and trade for a decent BOR starter from a selling team.

Reds have 66 games to go. That’s 13 starts on average for the five starting pitchers. You can’t have one spot that loses, say 9 or 10 of those 13. You’ll never gain the ground to overtake the Brewers or Padres.

We all talk about the bullpen, correctly so, but this is an equal need. One fifth of the remaining schedule is a big deal.

Jeff Hoffman getting the ball on a regular basis ain't the answer for a team trying to overcome a sizable deficit.

The guy does have a 2.45 ERA in his first inning of work. I’m not saying I’d expect him to become a lockdown guy by any means, but I think I’d rather see what he can do out of the pen than Hendrix or whoever the worst guy is out there right now.
