He deserves to be benched but frankly I still don’t think it’s the best thing to do for a variety of reasons. Maybe when Moustakas comes back but who knows when that may be. In the long game you’re better off sticking with him both for the good of this season and any future value he may have.
I do think it’s at least time to start sitting him down for a defensive replacement in the late innings until he cuts back on all the errors.

Saurez has been one of our most frustrating players in quite some time just considering his 2021 season.
That said, this is an incredibly reactionary thread based off his error tonight. His defense has really been superb at 3rd this year.
Criticize the guy all you want, but defensively he's the opposite of a liability and he's hitting a little better to the point that I still think he's tolerable in this lineup.

Frustrating player. Even with all his struggles, he's still tied for second in RBI's on the team. If they had someone else they could swap in who'd provide the same production, I'd say sure, bench him. But they don't. If you take him out late for defense and the game goes to extras, you're way less likely to get a game winning long ball from the likes of Mike Freeman. As I said, frustrating.

I wouldn’t mind his error tonight, ball was smoked, except it went right through his legs. Have to stop that even if you can’t catch it. He has played better of late, true.

Errors cost the Reds the game as much as the bullpen. In fact without the errors the Reds would have won even with the bullpens' struggles.
Stevenson dropped a called third strike allowing a baserunner which scores on a following homer.
Aquino over-threw a shallow ball in left to the plate, with would have easily gotten out Taylor running from second.
And of course Saurez letting the ball between his legs for a two base error.

Brewers picked up Rowdy Tellez for a song, where is our GM? Suarez surely could bring a couple of decent relievers.
That was a really bad error...at a really bad time.
That said, putting C. Perez in the game at any point, any day, is a really bad decision and equal to the error of Suarez.
Suarez also has the worst WAR on the team at -1.1. His OPS with RISP is .559 so that tells me he should have about 70 RBI instead of 49.
Oh well...

That's a Dogfight trade, he's ugly and wouldn't fit on the Reds at all so let's try and not envy that trade
