It's that time of the year, I would like to see a thread about Reds (only) trade rumors.
We all know how that will work out.

I think they'll end up doing something fairly minor and inconsequential. Maybe a reliever who's only marginally better than what they have just so that they can say they made a move to improve the team.

I'd love to be wrong, though.

“Right now, we’ve got a lot of guys who are injured, both in Triple-A and the big leagues,” Reds general manager Nick Krall said. “We’re trying to get healthy first. Once we get healthy, we’ll figure out how to best go from there.”

“These guys [the guys on the IL ] are impact players for our club. That’s going to tell us a lot about where we are,” Krall said.

“Over the next couple of weeks, we have a tough schedule. But we’ve got teams that we have to go out and compete against, especially in our division,” Krall said. “Those are the games that will tell us a lot about where we are in this division. We’ll make decisions after that.”

“I think we can get better,” Krall said. “We’re going to get better just from getting guys back from injury. Then you assess where you are and what you need to do and go from there.”

Such a terrible answer. This was a bad bullpen even with Antone and Sims both healthy. Michael Lorenzen was never going to be enough to fix it and now he’s hurt again anyway. Ugh.


This feels like 2013 all over again when they refused to replace Ludwick after his injury and didn’t even bother to block Marlon Byrd from going to The Pirates, let alone acquiring him for themselves.

And somehow I think this might be worse.

Well and sort of a liar. He claimed they can & should try to improve the roster by acquiring players.

But of course, the familiar “so many injuries” excuse.

After posting the "he's a hack..." comment I felt guilty about being so negative but really, this is ridiculous. Ownership should be ashamed for once again hiring the cheap and easy way and then apparently restricting the hire's ability to do the job.
I hope all their swimming pools and air conditioners break for the summer.

We’ll hear that it was too late to make a deal that would have a big-enough impact on the standings at that point, but I hope there’s a post-mortem among the front office and the owners on how it became too late, because there will be a post-mortem in the public.
