Any defense of the Reds approach to this bullpen is pure homerism. The bullpen has been an absolute dumpster fire, not just since April, but you could see it coming as far back as December. Many on here saw it and raised teh issue while the Reds played the scrap heap game. They did find a couple of guys who haven't been complete disasters who could fill the 12th and13th man roles on a good team, but we've suffered through a bunch of Deleons, Fulmers, Bedrosians and Perezes to get there. It was predictable and it is undoubtedly the reason this team will be watching the post-season in October.
If this bullpen was good enough to e merely below average, this team would probably be in a play-off position right now. In spite of Suarez failures, the hole at SS, the crashing and burning of Nick Senzel and the injury to Moose, it has been the bullpen that has done this team in. There is still a chance, but that chance fades with every loss and it was a very foreseeable failure.
