All I literally said was that it's not that ridiculous for a pitcher to give up hits to Arenado and Goldschmidt.

What do you disagree about in that comment?

when you're a slave to pitch counts...managers talk about gut, but they will not use judgment to let a starter go a little deeper depending on the situation. Castillo was cruising, three straight low stress innings, two stress innings all game, LEAVE HIM IN.

19 pitches last night so he should be good. Had two days off before.

There’s no point in going further with it. Post of mine you quoted was removed, by me, and I apologize for being snitty.

Disagree... you can get 4 outs off of Hembree in a game you are winning... In a high leverage situation, who do you want on the hill???

And Bell would get hung by media by fans by everyone if one of the top 4 starters went down with injury. If he let them throw 120 plus pitches. Not how baseball is played anymore. You can disagree with it but those are facts. 60 games last year. No manager is going to let guys throw 120 pitches. They just aren't.

It’s a long season with lots of starts left. Bullpen has to do their job.

I agree but I think managers are way too obsessed with PC anyway. He had a lot of easy now stress pitches tonight and think he was find another inning. Plus, leaving the starter in you eliminate the 3 batter deal so if he clearly has lost it you can yank him. Then again, Brach clearly had nothing and Bell didn't care so probably irrelevant.

Just unreal no-one gets Shogo to stay in the fricken box instead of bailing out on every. single. swing.

You can't use Hembree multiple innings. You will have him on the IL and be left with nothing. That is the very reason Sims and Antone are out now. Bell was forced to overuse them earlier in the season.

slave to pitch counts, which are arbitrary limits that has become an accepted norm anecdotally.
