Allan Cerda lengthens the Tortuga lead with a two-out single. An error by the Might Mussel LF, Justin Washington, allowed both runners on base (Vellojin and Marrero after BBs) to score. Daytona now leads 4-1 as we head to the bottom of the 9th.

Brett Lockwood closes it out in boring fashion. (My most favorite type.) 'Tugas win 4-1.

Ivan Johnson delivered the big hit and went 2-5, raising his OPS to 745. That sounds anemic, but is actually slightly above league average.

Yes, I’d say a chance in the bigs is on deck assuming he holds serve in AAA.

    Re: Minor League Games, 7/24

The wind must have been blowing out today in Arizona. The Reds' ACL team knocked 15 hits to go along with 6 extra base hits and 8 BBs.

Unfortunately, the seven runs they put up were dwarfed by the little Indi-- err, Guardians' 12.

The pitching, as you can imagine, mostly sucked eggs. Jake Gilbert pitched well in two innings of relief. 3 K's and a lone BB blemished his line.

The bats were for real. Yassel Pino led the charge. 3 more hits and another HR (his second). He's putting up a .429 BA with an OPS north of 1.300. Fun with small samples and all that, but it's promising to see a 19-year-old hit like that. 18-year-old Andruw Salcedo is also hitting like that-- he's at a .480 BA with an OBP of .552 and an OPS of 1.352. That'll play. It is, alas, in only 25 ABs, but it's good to see at any rate.

RECAP: Reds' minor league squads put up a 3-2 record on the night. Three starting pitching gems highlight, including yet another masterpiece from Graham Ashcraft.

Bonus Question for the Night: Does Ashcraft deserve to be ranked inside the top 100 prospects in baseball right now? Why or why not?
