the Dodgers runs scored vs. runs allowed is mind blowing. And they did all this without Trevor Bauer.

If they had him, they would have a rotation of Bauer/Scherzer/Kershaw/Buehler/Urias.

Would that be the best rotation in the history of baseball?

Ironically, if the Dodgers still had Bauer pitching, Scherzer would likely be a Padre. That would be no bueno for the Rojas.

Padres up big early against the Giants. Phillies and Cardinals won. Not a great day for the Reds.

Cardinals have an off day today. Today is a chance to gain a 1/2 game in the standings.
[Phil ] Castellini celebrated the team's farm system and noted the team had promising prospects who would one day be great Reds -- and then joke then they'd be ex-Reds, saying "of course we're going to lose them". #SellTheTeamBob

The Padres @ Giants game is on the MLB Network right now. No score top of the 2nd inning.

Padres beat the Giants 7 to 4 to take two out of three in that series.

Phillies were behind the Cubs 7 to 0 ; Phillies outscore the Cubs 17 to 1 after that.

Reds 1 behind the Cards( 2 in the all important loss column)
Reds 0.5 behind the Pads(1 in the loss column)
Reds 1.5 ahead of the Phillies (1 in the loss column)

Hate to have to say this. I see the Reds as needing two wins against the Dodgers. Time is running out.

If either win, we lose, this series is inconsequential in that respect.

Either team sweeping would be the worst case scenario for the Reds.

The Padres taking 2 of 3 would be the best outcome.

Agree. A good weekend from the Reds' standpoint would be the Padres winning 2 of 3 and the Reds winning 2 of 3. I won't be disappointed, though, if the Cardinals get swept. The Pads have a very rough schedule down the stretch. I'm much more concerned about St. Louis.

Re: Time to Move: Scoreboard watching for August

Padres furious comeback against the Cards fell just short . Cards win 8 to 7.

In the all important loss column....

Cards 3 ahead of the Phils
Cards 4 ahead of the Reds and Padres

    Phils play the Mets tonight.

Cards haven't lost in a week and two days. It's September and Cardinals are doing Cardinals things. Just a gut punch but not wholly unexpected.
