We probably ought to pay some attention to NBA GMs looking form an association as the Trail Blazers seem like they intend to do Neil Olshey dirty so they don't have to pay out the rest of his contract - https://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/...on-sources-say.

Gentry is fine and all, but that team will go nowhere until it solves its issues with defense and frontcourt.
That's a team, to bring this back full circle, who could really use Simmons. I'd dangle Hield and Bagley, but if I'm Kings' management, I'd probably be okay with De'Aaron Fox as the primary piece sent to Philadelphia as long as the Sixers gave up something else too. (Thybulle would be a nice piece.)

Hield is a good fit for Philly, is unhappy in Sacramento, and is replaceable. He makes sense as a piece, but he's not enough (both in terms of salary and production) to net Simmons. Haliburton is too much. (That's the one piece that'd be a nonstarter, were I Sacramento.)
That leaves Fox. Which makes sense, as he'd be a fine guy for Philly and a poor fit next to Simmons. (Three non-shooters in today's NBA is hard to work around.)
Personally, I don't believe in "fluke" champions.
This isn't directed at you, but this was/is the kind of nonsense attributed to the Rockets back-to-back champs back in the day by the Bulls bandwagoners: The only reason the Rockets earned two champs was due to MJ either being "retired' or rusty. Like Longley and their cast of big man stiffs - or Rodman, for that matter - would have had a prayer of even containing prime Hakeem: The Michael Jordan of centers. There are/were other examples, but I think you get the point.
That said, if you wish to utilize the fluke argument (at least to a certain extent) for a Finals appearance, how about the bubble-assisted '20 Heat? The Lakers had a much, much tougher road to the Finals than the Heat, who faced a Pacers team with Oladipo 65 percent healthy (if that) and missing Sabonis. They also were very fortunate that Hayward missed two ECF games, both Boston losses. Their victory over Milwaukee was impressive, I'll grant them that. But the Bucks, who never quite got it together in the bubble, featured a considerably weaker roster than last year's champs. Granted, I'm NOT claiming the '20 Heat as the weakest Finals participant in history - The '07 Cavs single-handedly led by LeBron 'win' that distinction, IMO, by a longshot - just the 'flukiest' if one must throw that particular argument out there.
I may get hammered for this, but whatever...

Yup. They gain nothing, IMO, by banishing Wall from the team.
The Rockets plan had best entail more than simply lottery luck. As its stands today, the Rockets have, IMO, zero current cornerstones considered 'generational talents,' and the cycling of assets - see 76ers post Hinkie/pre Morey - is a critical process that cannot be overlooked. The 76ers, at least wound up with Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. No, Simmons hasn't fully developed as expected, but hard to argue that he's not a generational talent.
Still, IMHO, Fertitta should have put aside his grudge with Morey and accepted a package based around Simmons once it was determined that Harden 'must' be dealt.

Haliburton is not too much for a Simmons trade. Nice player, but he'll do well to make a single All-Star game in his career. Simmons already has made three, and has the toolset to keep making them.
