I think he might actually be the first person ever to hit it over "that section of the wall." We are looking at big time power

Nope, there has been a list of about a dozen players who have done it. Juan Francisco actually did it three times.

    Re: Elly De La Cruz

More I look at it the more concerned I have become with his high K rate. He needs to cut down on the strikeouts otherwise he will not be the impact player that we are hoping for. There is hope he can improve because Siani made a 5% improvement this year.

As Steel numbers has pointed out when babip is normalized his ops is not that impressive. We have seen this happen with Senzel's rookie year his babip at the MLB level and his ops was no longer special compared to his high babip ops in the minors

Without change he is likely a serviceable player but not the superstar we need. There have been very few successful hitters that have had 30% rates in the minors the best player I could find is Matt Chapman.

We have seen guys that cannot make contact get abused by pitchers in the majors Barrero Aquino Wily Mo Pena and Juan Francisco. I am worried that he could be another Jo Adell that struggles at the MLB level.

None of those guys gave offensive stats that compare to EDLC. Comparing Wily Mo Peña to EDLC is laughable.

    Re: Elly De La Cruz

Aquino AAA line is .300/.374/.644 for 1.018 ops and has 26% k% this illustrates how poor De La Cruz contact is at this time and it will come back to bite him if not corrected.

Jo Adell put up same numbers in A+ AA at 20 just like EDLC with same high babip and contact issues (EDLC is actually worse red flags)

Senzel had very high ops and high babip we saw what happens when babip normalizes. Senzel .983 in A .847 in A+ .973 in AA EDLC .782 .968 .910

EDLC 2019 .730 ops 2021 .782 ops, this is first big numbers in his career.
EDLC year is a little like Billy Hamilton's 2012 year. We can see the flaws in his game just like Hamiltons ops numbers are shiny but deeply flawed.

Wily Mo Pena as 19yo put up a .813 ops EDLC .782

High babip, low walk rate and high strikeout rates are huge red flags especially as a combination.

I don't want to face this possibility, but I think it is a valid concern.

This is cherry picking at it's finest.

Aquino was not good at all at AA: .714 OPS

When Aquino came up to AAA it was the year the ball was insanely juiced at AAA level and he had a total of 104 games played at AAA, including 22 games in 2022. The much more relevant sample size is his 245 games at AA where he had a .714 OPS.

Comparing Aquino to EDLC is laughable.

Lots of issues with these particular comparisons, in that they compare apples to oranges.

    - Senzel was 22 in AA. EDLC was 20.
    - EDLC compared to Billy Hamilton... Just... No. EDLC's slugging nearly doubles Hamilton's.
    - Aquino, as RTG noted, is a non-starter as well.

Really, only Jo Adell is a decent comp-- and he's still just 23.
