    Re: Elly De La Cruz

I was a little nervous about whether EDLC would be able to instantly make the transition to high A or if he would scuffle at first, so it's been incredibly encouraging that he's mashing.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

8 BBs in 114 PAs doesn't seem like much, but it's a vast improvement over his numbers last year. Six of those are in his last 79 PAs, so he's showing improvement year after year and month after month. Nice to see, that.

But it's still just 7%. And the K rate is still slightly over 30%.

Both of those still need serious work.

In short, he's mashing and can still improve. A bunch.

Dunn and Kearns felt bigger because the biggest prospects since ED were Sabo, Willie Greene, and Pokey Reese.
Granted minor league baseball was harder to follow back then, but the Reds minors were a prospect graveyard from the late 80s until Kearns and Dunn.

Since there are no teams on the moon, I guess South Korea's far enough from Cincinnati to satisfy me.

Too, many fans were incredibly spoiled by those late 80's prospects.

The Reds churned out, in short order, Davis (1985), Larkin (1986), Sabo (1988), Kalvoski Daniels (1986), Paul O'Neill (1987), Nick Esasky (1983), Johnny Franco (1985), Jeff Russell (1983), Norm Charlton (1988), Rob Dibble (1988), Lenny Harris (1988), Jeff Montgomery (1987), Jack Armstrong (1988), Joe Oliver (1989), and others.

That's an entire starting lineup of thumpers, a dominant bullpen led by an all-timer and four All-Star closers, and a starting pitcher.

That is perhaps the second-most dominant run of minor league success in Red history.

I know he got off to a slow start but over the last 30 games he is .320/.362/.639/1.001 and he is on pace for a 30hr/30sb season. If he improves his strike zone discipline even a little bit he opens next year as a top 5 prospect in baseball

And you can blame Marge and her scouts only watch games so what good are they for mantra. She sure didn’t spend the money on FA besides Rick Mahler in 1989. Ted Power in 1991 and Smiley in 1993.
Argument is people will take the 1990 WS as proof she was a good owner. While she didn’t tear down teams until after the 1995 season and she might have been on her way out by then the 1990 team was built off the minor league system that had rebuild from the 82-83 seasons. That includes the trades made using the system to improve the team.

There was some good notes and obs in there on Rece Hinds as well.
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Interesting they think he could compete for #1 prospect in all of MLB (not that that title has been a good omen for Reds prospects)

EDLC has doubled and homered so far tonight. It was home run number 12.

I feel like Elly should go to Chattanooga as soon as Barrero is ready for Cincy (and McLain in turn heads to Louisville). Hopefully that happens by the end of the month.

I love LED, and can't wait to see him in Cinci in a couple years.

One caveat, though...I worry about players who don't perform until warmer weather hits. What are they going to be like in October/November?
