The #Reds today signed to a minor league contract and assigned to Triple-A Louisville OF Ender Inciarte.

Might want to take a look at Ender’s offensive stats the last two seasons. Sub .600 OPS both years. Was .510 in 2020. The guy is toast.

He is just 30 and pushed out of playing.

Pretty solid 2015-17.

This club has tolerated .170 from their starting 3B/SS with far less than GG defense, and Naquin is not doing enough offensively to compensate for a defensive speciality position like CF.

Inciarte is a fantastic defender in CF. The reds haven't had a CF all season. If you are going to give a roster spot to a guy who is a defensive replacement and speed option while hitting like a pitcher, why not give it to a guy who is a top notch defender and faster runner. Inciarte is better than Shogo at the stuff Shogo is actually good at.

I'd add Inciarte to the Roster before adding Senzel back.

Inciarte is a fantastic defender in CF. The reds haven't had a CF all season. It does feel like they may just cut bait on Shogo, at least for 2021. They have options. If Inciarte looks good in Louisville for a week they can just flip him and Shogo.

Winker, Senzel, Castellanos with AA and Inciarte backing up is pretty rounded. I get the feeling Naquin will be on another team soon.

Yeah, but I wonder about Senzel. The guy has an OPS lower than Suarez. He's a decent defender in CF, but he's not better than average. I'd just go all defense there with Inciarte. With Cast and Moose back, Votto hitting, Farmer is producing, the catching tandem, there really isn't a weak spot in the line-up other than CF. If they are going to have a weak spot there, it may as well be a top defender.

I wouldn't waste an August roster spot on a glove only guy in a bandbox like GAB.
