Is Jay Allen a fast mover?
(Nice debut for him)
Well, that's what those words mean. He was here. If they don't keep him, he will have been lost/subtracted. I headed out the door today with two shoes on my feet. If I don't return with them, I have lost them. If I do return with them, I haven't added them. ---M2

Cincinnati Reds (pre-2021 ranking: No. 17)
The Reds didn’t add any prospects at the trade deadline, trading one prospect who didn’t make my preseason top 20 (Case Williams) in a minor deal, but they had the best draft class outside of Pittsburgh’s, and are worth mentioning on that basis alone. They landed a top-10 overall prospect in Matt McLain, a shortstop who can really hit and had his best year for UCLA this spring, with more power and better defense; another first-round talent in high school outfielder Jay Allen, using the pick they gained for losing a free agent who will not be named; and then … just kept drafting good players. Imagine that. Some were upside players; a few were seniors who showed something new this spring or just missed their window in 2020 because the draft was just five rounds, but the Reds were still drafting real prospects when the majority of teams had moved on to under-slot guys.
The Reds did graduate Jonathan India from the top 100, but still have Nick Lodolo on it and would have José Barrero on it right now, as well as McLain, while Hunter Greene — who is going to miss a start with AC joint irritation — is now the best pitching prospect in the minors. The Reds are contenders but they’ve done so without sacrificing the long-term outlook, and their farm system is probably among the 10 best in the minors right now.

This is why I like what the Reds did at the trading deadline. They fixed what could reasonably be fixed without trading top prospects. I believe they are set for a run of competitiveness for the next 5-7 years. In the past there were only one or two players for whom I checked the box scores. Now there are many. And, there is talent at every position.

What would you say.....ya do here?
I kinda lump Raisor and Doug together as when at the top of their game they made this a much better site and they both made rather unceremonial exits from here. I don’t even remember why Raisor left - does anyone?
Doug exiting in a rage over a renowned and prize-winning photograph claiming child pornography will always be one I didn’t see coming.
They seem to have a good enough time glad handing each other on Twitter so maybe all’s well that ends well.

I would suggest Doug is in a different tier. I’ve had my back and fourth with him, but there is a difference. He has his clear passion he puts his life into.
Raisor is a smart guy, but he just can’t deal with an ounce of conflict in any factor of his life. Like if you can’t take a joke on here, imagine the real world. It just wasn’t ever reality with him.
Doug is who he is. Not for everyone, but he’s as authentic as it gets. Him and Raisor are pals I think bc they are both funny, passionate reds fans that enjoy the online interactions.
I understand why it didn’t work as a fit for either of them here… and to me it comes down to conflict resolution on their end.

My recollection is that the Reds were coming off a bad season and early the next year posters were predicting the Reds would be even worse, and Raisor insisted that wasn’t possible and became upset with people being too negative. He then asked to be permanently banned.
Maybe there was more behind the scenes or stuff I’m forgetting but he did get frustrated that people were expecting the Reds to lose a lot.
