    Re: 8-25-21 Reds @ Brewers 8:10pm

    LAST SERIES VS BREWERS || LAST MONTH
    Barnhart 6-21 .286 0 HR 3 RBI || 12-44 .273 3 HR 11 RBI (.306 OBP)(.545 SLG)
    Stephenson 4-11 .364 0 HR 1 RBI || 14-44 .318 4 HR 10 RBI (.367 OBP)(.659 SLG)

    Castillo WITH CATCHER BEHIND PLATE SINCE ALL-STAR BREAK
    DATE QS WL IP H ER BB SO
    Barnhart 8/9 N L 3.1 7 8 3 2
    7/29 Y W 6 7 3 2 8
    7/24 Y W 7 5 1 3 9
    2-1 16.1 19 12 8 19

    Stephenson 8/19 Y W 7 8 1 1 7
    8/14 Y L 6.2 5 3 2 8
    8/4 Y W 6 6 1 1 7
    7/17 Y - 6 5 0 3 8
    7/11 N - 5.1 3 1 6 6
    7/6 Y - 7 3 1 1 4
    7/1 Y - 6.1 5 3 3 6
    2-1 37.1 35 10 17 46

    Why again is Barnhart catching Castillo? Stephenson is far and away the better hitter, and Castillo
    has done WAY BETTER with Stephenson behind the plate. It's not even close, really. Over twice as
    many innings thrown with Stephenson, with less hits per inning, far fewer earned runs. The numbers
    also seem to imply that Castillo gets the strike call with Stephenson more than he does with Barnhart.

    Great. Wonderful. Go reds.
    I'm betting Stephenson is aware of this, it's comical.

    I think I’m sitting this one out for mental health. I’ll follow it on a bar TV with a cold brew in hand.

    Why is this seemingly ignored? I would like those numbers since say late May.

    Y’all really think Tucker and Tyler get different scouting reports and call different games? To me it’s nothing but small innings noise.

    It's time consuming, but you can look up game-by-game stats online, and pair those games by catcher.

    One is definitely better at framing pitches than the other. One also made some pretty questionable pitch location requests yesterday considering the shifts. You really think it's pure coincidence that Castillo pitches better with Stephenson?

    Yes, I do. I just said that.

    And Tucker is a better pitch framer, and better at blocking balls, and throwing out base runners.

    Stephenson should be starting.

    Re: 8-25-21 Reds @ Brewers 8:10pm

    At this point I would gladly take a split of the final 2 games here. Our schedule after the Brewers is insanely easy (22 of 31 are well below .500).....and the Padres is insanely hard (28 of 35 above .500). It's also why you see our odds to make the playoffs on sites like 538, BR and FG in the 60-70% range vs 20-30% for the Padres despite being only 1 game above the Padres.

    On the other hand...the Brewers aren't gone get caught.

    This is a good sight that breaks it down very well...

    I didn't see any numbers on unearned runs attributable to catcher's PB, WP, E, SB, CS.
