1 inning since 2018. Still a solid switch hitting Veteran offensive option in the playoff race isn't a bad thing. Sucks for Barrero or Schrock though.

I apparently missed Schrock being called back up, didn’t realize he was here again

Re: Reds pick up Asdrubal Cabrera on waivers

If I’m feeling snarky, I’ll say that the Reds just wanted to sneak a 10th bullpen arm onto the roster. He’s pitched 1.1 scoreless innings this year. Batters have only reached base against him once.

I don’t see how this affects Barrero at all as Ass-drooble hasn’t played SS since 2018.

I guess I kind of like the move pending the fallout to other reds players from a rostering and playtime standpoint.

One notable negative, the guy has a rather horrible postseason history. Over a 13 year period for 3 different teams: 108 plate appearances, 4 extra base hits, .214/.240/.296 line. I followed him closer early in his career, and he was very streaky for better and worse.

I’m not sure where Suarez fits on the roster right now. Cabrera as the RHH version of a third base platoon makes sense. He hasn’t played SS in a couple years and at this point in this career seems like a corner infielder. I almost wonder if we’re finally getting the Suarez “shoulder soreness” DL trip because Moose, Geno, and Cabrera all on the same roster just doesn’t make a ton of sense.

    Me likey.

In a 1 game playoff he's the type of guy I want coming off my bench with a big at bat. Guys like Barrero are the future, but I can see them pressing in the playoffs (see 2020).

This team really needed another RH bat. One out of the box thought here, is Aquino out of options? He's been in a free fall and looks silly at the plate these days. He's been the primary RH bench bat, Cabrera could be replacing him. It means Shogo and Naquin in teh OF every day I'd guess

Now Votto has someone else on the team in their mid-30s that he can relate to.

Can never have enough 3rd basemen.

Good move. Winning teams have veteran bats on the bench. Also gives some flexibility. Agree about Suarez. Hard to see him on the field these days.

Sure would like to see a DL stint for Suarez, if for no other reason than to give him time away to get his head right.

When he showed up slimmer this year. I thought his head was right. Then he said his primary goal was to hit 50 HR. His head hasn't been right all year.
