I wonder if this precludes Barrero being sent back down, don’t see much room otherwise for him

I guess that means Berrero goes down?

I’m also confused as hell by this because the last thing we need is another corner infielder type lol.

Not sure what he brings that Schrock or Lopez can’t do but alright I suppose.

That might actually be a good move if they were willing to bench Geno and platoon him with Moose, but uh, we all know that’s not going to happen

I like it, he’s exactly the bench bat I was hoping they’d pick up around the deadline.
“I don’t care,” Votto said of passing his friend and former teammate. “He’s in the past. Bye-bye, Jay.”

    Agree.

108 lifetime post-season plate appearances. Helps v lefties hitting over .800 OPS against them this season. I believe will be Reds’ only switch hitter.

Not sure how they will fit him, an outfielder would have been easier. But someone can be sent down and brought back on 9/1, a few days away.

Stick him in LF until Winker’s back.

According to Retrosheet he's never played the outfield. He has played all the infield positions. My guess is Barrero will go down. IMO he still looks overmatched at the big league level. He may just need regular playing time but now isn't the time to experiment. Cabrera helped the Nats a lot in 2019 after he was picked up from Texas. I hope he does the same with the Reds.

Cabrera, Schrock, and Stephenson in games he isn’t starting is a pretty damn good PH crew off the bench

Cabrera has played all infield positions including shortstop, although not much short of late.

1 inning since 2018. Still a solid switch hitting Veteran offensive option in the playoff race isn't a bad thing. Sucks for Barrero or Schrock though.

Besides the bullpen issues prior to this year the bench was always lacking. Especially with the need for 13 then 14 pitchers. Hardly any power or on base skills. Good pick up.
