Wendy’s changing its French fries

They're also testing "Buttermilk Ranch and Jalapeno Cheddar flavored chicken nuggets".

I am in the minority and consider Wendy’s fries one of the best of the fast food chains. They are just right thickness, fluffy in the center, salty, strong potato flavor, with the only fault being their lack of extreme crispness, though I find them just crispy enough.

McDonalds used to have the best fries, but they just don’t fry them long enough anymore, and are always undercooked, leaving them pale and soggy.

I will be interested in seeing how these new Wendy’s fries turn out, but I am skeptical. They say they will now add a “whisper of coating,” which could be disasterous. Burger King coats their fries, and they have the worst, imo, because of the coating. It gives the fries a chemical taste that overwhelms the entire fry. Hopefully the Wendy’s coating will be different.

Regardless, I will definitely be trying them.

Finally tried the new Wendy’s fries, and they are as disappointing as I expected.

They seem the same as the old ones, except they are now coated with a chemical that tricks you into thinking they are crispy. Many fast food places are going this route, BK was the first. It ruins the fries, in my opinion.

I guess I will be sticking to Wendy’s for breakfast from now on.

I worked there for part of a summer back in 1988 and I think they changed them at least once a day. Of course that was eons ago.

Not a fan either. They taste like fries with a batter on them which seems to be the thing now. I prefer my fries to be recognizable potatoes that have just been cut, fried, and salted. Don’t coat them.

Beginning November 15th Wendy's will be selling another new frosty flavor; a Peppermint frosty (vanilla base w/ peppermint syrup).

Additionally, Wendy's will be launching an Italian Mozz Chicken Sandwich, Italian Mozz Burger, and Garlic Fries.

That sounds really really good. It would be in their best interest to have monthly or seasonal frostee flavors.

4. Culver's (crinkle cut fries)
3. Chick-Fil-A (waffle fries)
2. Penn Station
1. 5 Guys

Penn Station and 5 Guys both use peanut oil, which makes the difference.
